Greater London · Canopy and hood cleaning
Canopy Cleaning in Manor House
Deep cleaning of kitchen canopies, hoods, plenums and grease filters, inside and out for Manor House, with a survey first and a report with photos at the end. Call for a fixed quote.
- A sticky, discoloured canopy
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- A greasy hood noticed by an inspector
Between visits
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Flag any change in how the canopy behaves
- Avoid harsh scourers that scratch the canopy
- Wipe the canopy down at close every day
- Never run the range with a filter out
After the clean you get a photo report showing the canopy, plenum and housing before and after. It notes what was cleaned and anything we couldn’t reach, so the record is honest and complete.
A daily wipe of the hood keeps fresh grease from baking on. It won’t replace a professional clean, but it slows the build-up you can see.
Canopy cleaning in Manor House, done properly
Has the canopy started to drip or look neglected? A photo of the canopy and filters is a good start when you call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we will give you a fixed quote for canopy cleaning, typically within one working day. The work covers canopy light fittings, grease gutters and baffle filters, and common reasons people get in touch are a plenum thick with grease behind the filters and condensation and grease dripping together.
London kitchens tend to trade late and open early, so extract cleaning in Manor House is normally done overnight, after the last service. Before the clean, we agree loading, parking and roof access with whoever manages the building.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What a clean won’t put right
It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:
- Grease filters too damaged to refit (they need replacing)
- A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that’s a design question)
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

How it works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. If your building in Manor House has sign-in rules, permits or key holders, mention them when you book.
- We look at the canopy first, from photos or on a visit.
- Equipment below is switched off and left to cool, then sheeted.
- With the filters out, the plenum and housing are cleaned back.
- We degrease the canopy shell, its seams and the grease troughs.
- Filters go back, the area is cleaned down and pictures are taken.
How to prepare
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Clear loose items from the work area
How to get a quote
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, pictures of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

What affects the quote in Manor House
Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- The scale of the work
- What state the system is in
- Travel, parking and unloading
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before any work starts.
What we need to know
You don’t need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
Part by part
Island canopies
With filters on more than one side, an island canopy has more plenum to clean. Both sides are taken apart and cleaned.
Plenums and filter housings
Filter housings hold the filters in place, and their channels fill with grease. Clean housings let the filters seat properly and leave no gaps.
Grease, kitchens and Manor House
The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 68 bars, pubs and nightclubs and about 4 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in Manor House and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Overnight is the normal time to clean a London kitchen extract, so trading isn’t affected. Manor House is covered by London Fire Brigade. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Term dates shape school work: for a school like Woodberry Down Community Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. A hospital like City of London Maternity Hospital, about 1 mile west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day. If you cook for passing trade around Harringay Green Lanes station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer.

Manor House questions
Do you work overnight in Manor House?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Manor House does not have to lose a day’s trading. Let us know the hours you are closed and we will book within them.
Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Manor House in the summer holidays?
Yes, holiday work suits schools best. Food Standards Agency records list about 40 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Manor House. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
Not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurance policies ask for proof of TR19® cleaning. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
Do you cover Manor House?
Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes Manor House.
How long does canopy cleaning take?
That depends on the size of the canopy and how much grease is on it. As a guide, it takes a few hours for most canopies.
What happens to the filters during the clean?
The filters are removed, cleaned and put back. Each filter is checked for fit as it goes back, because gaps let grease through.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes. We always survey first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where necessary. Then you get a fixed quote.
Do you clean inside the canopy as well as outside?
The full canopy, inside and out, and the plenum behind it. Grease troughs and filter channels are emptied and degreased as part of the job.
What happens if it’s left?
For a kitchen in Manor House, a canopy that looks greasy can colour a whole inspection. Keeping it clean shows the rest of the kitchen is being looked after and keeping it that way is easier than catching up. London buildings are shared, so a fire or failure in one system can reach the neighbours above and beside you.
You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we’ll explain what it covers.
