Canopy cleaning in Hyde Park Estate

We’ve been cleaning kitchen canopies since we started trading in 2009. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We are often asked to deal with heavy deposits behind the grease filters and a canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection, on island canopies, canopy light fittings and wall canopies.

In a London area like Hyde Park Estate, a kitchen extract often passes through shared space on its way out: a riser, a service void, the floors above. A duct fire there can reach parts of the building far from the range, so a regular TR19® clean protects everyone in it.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.

When to call us in Hyde Park Estate

Moisture in the air mixes with the grease on the canopy. As the canopy cools, condensation forms, carrying grease with it. Drips onto the cooking line are a common result.

What we are most often called out for:

  • A sticky, discoloured canopy
  • Condensation running down the canopy
  • Grease filters blocking between washes
  • Poor capture at the hood

Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Hyde Park Estate is Fortius Clinic, about 0.7 miles east.

What happens if it’s left?

Baked-on grease gets harder to shift the longer it stays. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, so the longer it’s left, the longer the clean takes. A booked night’s work in Hyde Park Estate costs you no trading time; an unplanned closure does.

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you are unsure, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes a few hours for most canopies. Before any visit in Hyde Park Estate, we agree where the van can stop and how equipment reaches the system.

  1. We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
  2. Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
  3. With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
  4. The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
  5. Filters are refitted, the area cleaned down and the photo report put together.

How to prepare

  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in

Grease, kitchens and Hyde Park Estate

The Food Standards Agency lists about 162 pubs and bars and about 247 hotels and guest houses as registered food businesses within about 1.5 miles of central Hyde Park Estate. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. In Hyde Park Estate, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Westminster council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. Night work suits London kitchens, and roads and loading bays tend to be quieter too.

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Hampden Gurney CofE Primary School or anywhere near Hyde Park Estate, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St John the Evangelist, or anywhere in Hyde Park Estate, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Questions from Hyde Park Estate

Can you come to Hyde Park Estate after we close?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The site is handed back ready to open. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.

Can a school canteen extract in Hyde Park Estate be done out of term time?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. Food Standards Agency records list about 78 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Hyde Park Estate. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.

What paperwork do I get after a canopy clean?

You get a photo report with before and after pictures. Full system cleans also come with a TR19 certificate.

What do you do to protect the area?

Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before we start, and anything we remove is contained. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Photos often do the job, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

Does a canopy clean meet TR19?

TR19® Grease is about the whole extract, from canopy to discharge. A canopy clean helps between full cleans, but the ducts and fan still need doing, and the report will say what was covered.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.

Fixed quotes for canopy cleaning in Hyde Park Estate

There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:

  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • What state the system is in
  • The number of sites or systems

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Helping us quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels

We do not publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

Honest limits

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
  • Poor airflow from a fan that needs repair
  • Bent or broken filters

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.
