Grease trap cleaning in Hyde Park Estate, done properly

Every trap is different. Under-sink units are small and fill quickly and larger traps hold more grease before they fill. We look at the trap, how much the kitchen uses it and how quickly it fills and suggest an interval that suits. If you have sinks that drain slowly and an inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning, we can help.

Every food business in London is inspected by its local council’s environmental health officers, and the cleanliness of the whole kitchen is part of what they look at. Kitchens in Hyde Park Estate often book a deep clean before or after an inspection.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

The process

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before any work starts, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Night and weekend working is normal for us in London, and a site in Hyde Park Estate is no exception.

  1. First, we locate the grease trap and look at the pipework around it.
  2. Nothing drains into the trap while it’s open.
  3. Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
  4. We clean the chambers, baffles and connections.
  5. The trap is reassembled, checked for leaks and the waste taken away.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

How to get a quote

Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before any work starts.

Hyde Park Estate: your questions answered

Can you work in Hyde Park Estate outside opening hours?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. It means the site in Hyde Park Estate keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Does London parking affect a job in Hyde Park Estate?

We plan it in advance, so let us know about loading bays, permits and access rules at the building. Much of our London work is done overnight, which helps.

How much time does a grease trap clean need?

Typically, it takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. Bigger or overdue traps need more time and we will say so when we quote.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, set at the interval the system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.

What do you do with what you remove?

It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it does not spread.

Will I get paperwork for my records?

Yes, on every job. The report is dated and includes pictures, plus a certificate via the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal for TR19® Grease cleans. Keep it in your maintenance log.

Which accreditations do you hold?

Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

What does TR19 mean?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning

You’ll get a fixed price before work begins. It’s based on:

  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • Site rules, permits and inductions

Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.

What we need to know

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow

Need a price for grease trap cleaning? Please call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with a few details about the site. We will talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before anything is booked.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Looking after it afterwards

Results last longer with the right care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Tell us if your menu or hours change
  • Hot water only moves grease further down
  • Act on gurgling or smelly drains
  • Wipe grease off pans before washing them

We will suggest when the trap should be cleaned again. That depends on how quickly it filled and how busy the kitchen is.

A fixed cleaning interval means the trap never gets overfull. We agree the timing with you.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things this work will not fix:

  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
  • Blockages further down the drainage network
  • A leaking sink waste or trap connection

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

When to call us in Hyde Park Estate

Waste cooking oil poured down the sink overloads the trap fast. Small amounts soon build up.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Sinks that drain slowly
  • Drains that gurgle and bubble
  • An under-sink unit that needs regular emptying
  • A bad smell from the sinks or drains

For a café close to London Paddington station, a deep clean can be done between closing and the morning rush.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the figure could change on the day
  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
