Canopy Cleaning in Cooling
Deep cleaning of kitchen canopies, hoods, plenums and grease filters, inside and out for commercial sites in Cooling and across Medway. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and fully insured.
- Wet, greasy drips from the hood
- A sticky, discoloured canopy
- Smoke hanging around the canopy during service
Canopy cleaning in Cooling
If the canopy in Cooling is dripping, sticky or overdue a clean? A photo of the canopy and filters is a good start when you call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we will give you a fixed quote for canopy cleaning, normally within one working day. If you have wet, greasy drips from the hood and grease channels that no longer drain, we can put it right.
Somewhere as small as Cooling, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Cooling: your questions answered
Does the sea air around Cooling make a difference to canopy cleaning?
It can, as Cooling is within about 3 miles of the sea, where salt in the air is hard on metal. A fan housing that is rusting near the coast can fail sooner, so it’s worth catching early.
Can you clean school kitchen extracts in Cooling during the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. There are about 3 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Cooling. Just call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.
Can you clean the canopy outside our opening hours?
We clean when you are not cooking, so service isn’t affected. We work evenings, nights and weekends.
What happens to the filters during the clean?
They’re taken out, cleaned and refitted. We check each one seats properly, because gaps let grease through.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.
How much notice should we give?
For planned work, earlier is better, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.
Do you cover Cooling?
Yes. Our technicians work in Cooling, as part of our area across London and the South East.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that can’t wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
The process
The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits, and we clear up before we go. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Cooling can be planned properly.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Out of hours, the range is switched off, cooled and covered.
- With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
- The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
Before we arrive
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Move anything stored near the system
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
Getting a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Advice
For landlords and multi-site operators
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
Between visits
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Make sure filters sit tight in the housing
- Clean the baffle filters often
- Keep the fan on through service
- Tell us when the canopy starts to drip
Where the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If the job covers only the canopy, the paperwork reflects that.
Do not let canopy gutters fill to the brim. Most canopy drips start with a full trough, so make emptying them part of the closing routine.
When to call us in Cooling
Steam and condensation make canopy grease harder to deal with. Water vapour condenses on the cooler canopy surfaces and drips and runs with the grease. Drips onto the cooking line are a common result.
The symptoms we’re asked about most include:
- Heavy deposits behind the grease filters
- A canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection
- A hood coated in old grease
- Filters that clog soon after cleaning
Church and community hall kitchens, near St James' Church or anywhere around Cooling, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

Canopy cleaning around Cooling
Cooling is within about 3 miles of the coast. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 4 pubs and bars in and around Cooling, up to about a mile and a half out. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. The fire and rescue service for Cooling is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.
If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Cooling (Restoration House is about 4.9 miles south), fitting access panels needs care. Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Cooling is French Hospital, about 4.8 miles south.

Leave it or put it right?
In Cooling, as elsewhere, a greasy canopy is one of the first things an inspector sees. A clean hood is a sign the kitchen is cared for and keeping it that way is easier than catching up. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Cooling rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.
Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.

What a clean will not put right
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what canopy cleaning won’t do:
- Bent or broken filters
- A light fitting that doesn’t work
- Grease in the duct runs and risers behind the canopy
