Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

AHU cleaning in Hampton Hill

Our AHU cleans for sites in Hampton Hill cover the parts that collect dirt: filters, coils, drain trays, fans and the internal panels. Every clean comes with a TR19® certificate and before and after photos in a report. We’re often asked to deal with coils clogged with dust and debris and units that have only ever had filter changes, across filter sections, internal panels and dampers and louvres.

London offices and flats often have ductwork added through successive refits, leaving sections that are hard to reach and seldom cleaned. An inspection first shows where cleaning is needed in a building in Hampton Hill.

A written report with pictures follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Hampton Hill: your questions answered

Can parking be tricky for a job in Hampton Hill?

Tell us where a van can stop near your site in Hampton Hill, and about any building rules on loading. Where restrictions apply in the day, an evening or overnight visit normally gets round them.

Can you work in Hampton Hill outside opening hours?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Hampton Hill doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. When you ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos, mention when the site is quiet.

Can you fix a faulty AHU?

Mechanical repairs to the unit are for your HVAC maintenance contractor. We will flag anything we notice during the clean.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.

Can you clean the ducts connected to the AHU?

Yes, the ductwork, grilles and diffusers the unit serves. The survey shows whether the ducts need cleaning now.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.

What’s TR19?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked, and it takes a risk-based approach.

Why it’s worth doing now in Hampton Hill

A slimy drain tray only gets worse. Left alone, it can overflow, leak into the plant area or ceiling below and spread smells through the system. Dealing with it early keeps the clean straightforward. In a London building, a problem in a duct, damper or fan rarely stays in one unit.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before we start.

What affects the quote in Hampton Hill

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • What state the system is in
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • The scale of the work

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form for straight advice and a fixed quote.

What we need to know

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • A few general shots of the system

We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711 or email us.

Part by part

Internal casing and panels

Damaged internal linings or loose panels can shed material into the air. Anything like that is recorded with photos.

Drain trays

Condensate from the coil drips into a tray beneath it. We clear standing water, clean out slime and check the outlet is draining.

Honest limits

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Ventilation that was badly designed in the first place
  • Coils that are corroded or leaking and need replacing
  • Faulty motors, drives or bearings

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Where we work

  • Dampers and louvres
  • Internal panels
  • Drain trays
  • Heating and cooling coils
  • Filter sections
  • Supply and extract fans

How the visit works

Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes anything from half a day for one small unit to several shifts for a plant room full of them. If your building in Hampton Hill has sign-in rules, permits or key holders, mention them when you book.

  1. First we agree when the unit can be switched off, including evenings or weekends.
  2. Before cleaning, each section is photographed.
  3. Filters, coils and internal surfaces are cleaned from intake to discharge.
  4. The fan and drain tray are cleaned and the drain checked.
  5. After photos are taken and the certificate issued.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions

When to call us in Hampton Hill

Filters catch most of the dust, but not all of it. What gets through settles on coils, fans and the inside of the casing, building up layer by layer.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Dirty filters cutting the airflow
  • Units needing a clean before a new tenant or handover
  • Stale or musty smells from the ventilation
  • Debris and leaves in the fresh air intake

If you run an office near Fulwell station, its supply ductwork can gather dust for years before anyone looks inside.
