Air handling unit cleaning in Ford, West Sussex
Cleaning of air handling units, including filters, coils, drain trays, fans and internal surfaces for commercial sites in Ford and across West Sussex. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and fully insured.
- Odours coming through the supply air
- Intake sections clogged with outdoor debris
- Air handling units never cleaned inside
For landlords and multi-site operators
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Ford
We clean air handling units for buildings in Ford and across West Sussex, working to TR19® Air, in buildings such as offices, schools, healthcare sites and shops. Units are cleaned when the site can spare them, often evenings, overnight or weekends. If you are dealing with air handling units with blocked filters and drain trays holding standing water, we can put it right.
Work in a small place like Ford starts with agreeing access and timings, and the ventilation is inspected, cleaned and recorded the same as anywhere.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

What affects the quote in Ford
Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- How many systems or sites are involved
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Any permits to work or inductions
- A single visit or a regular plan
Every site is different, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.
What to send for a quote
You do not need the technical terms. Just send:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The postcode and the type of business
- A few general shots of the system
Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price, before any work starts.
Your questions about AHU cleaning in Ford
Do you cover smaller places like Ford?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Ford included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Can you come to Ford after we close?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Ford does not have to lose a day’s trading. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us with your opening times and we will plan around them.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes. Photos often do the job, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.
Does the AHU have to be shut down for cleaning?
Yes. The fan must be stopped and the unit isolated, so we plan it for a time that suits the building.
Will we get paperwork for the AHU clean?
Yes, both a certificate and a report with photos. The report also suggests when the unit should next be inspected.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and the details are available on request.
How do you protect the area?
By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and leave the area clean.
How often do AHUs need cleaning?
There’s no single answer; it comes down to the building and the unit. Regular inspection shows when it’s due, and we’ll suggest an interval after the first clean.
What AHU cleaning cannot fix
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
- A system that is undersized for the building
- The supply and extract ducts, quoted separately
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
What the work covers
- Heating and cooling coils
- Drain trays
- Filter sections
- Internal panels
- Dampers and louvres
- Supply and extract fans
How the job changes from site to site
Fans and fan sections
The fan moves all of the unit’s air, so dirt on it gets spread around. The impeller, its housing and the fan chamber are cleaned.
Drain trays
The drain tray collects water from the cooling coil. We clear standing water, clean out slime and check the outlet is draining.
How it works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes a single shift for a typical unit, longer for large or heavily soiled ones. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Ford and turn up when the site is quiet.
- The survey covers the unit, its access and how it can be shut down.
- The area is protected and the unit made safe.
- Each section is cleaned of dust, debris and slime.
- Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
- We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.
Before we arrive
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
Ask for a quote
Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you will typically have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.
Advice
Between visits
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Watch for drips or damp patches near the plant
- File each AHU report in the maintenance log
- Don’t store bins or materials near the intake
- Book the next check in line with the report
Stick to the filter change schedule, because good filters protect everything downstream. Record each change in the maintenance log.
Keep the unit’s doors and panels in working order. If a section is hard to get into, it tends not to get checked.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
