Graffham, about 46 miles from central London, is within our usual area. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours. About 3.9 miles north-west of Graffham is Midhurst Community Hospital, the nearest hospital. Healthcare ventilation is a good example of why supply ducts need inspecting: the air goes straight to patients.
Midhurst Community Hospital, about 3.9 miles north-west, is the nearest hospital to Graffham, and healthcare sites of every size need their supply air kept clean. Classrooms and halls at schools such as Graffham CofE Infant School are easiest to work in when pupils are away.

Across West Sussex, we cover 371 places, Graffham among them. There’s also a page for Portsmouth, about 20 miles away.

Ventilation duct cleaning in Graffham, done properly
TR19® Air is the part of BESA’s TR19® that deals with general supply and extract ventilation. It’s risk-based and inspection-led, so we look before we clean. The work covers supply ductwork, hospitals and care homes and grilles and diffusers, and the jobs we see most are construction dust left in ducts after a refit and ductwork with too few access panels to clean.
In a village or hamlet like Graffham, few buildings have mechanical ventilation, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.
The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

Graffham: your questions answered
Do you clean school ventilation in Graffham in the holidays?
Yes, holiday work suits schools best. The FSA’s register shows about 2 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Graffham. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Do you work overnight in Graffham?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Graffham can fit around your hours. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it and the fixed quote is built on it.
Do we get a certificate after the clean?
Yes. You get a certificate with the date, location and technician, plus a photo report.
What if there aren’t enough access panels?
Those sections are recorded as not cleaned in the report, with the reason. We can fit new access panels so they’re covered next time.
Where does the waste go?
It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go rather than letting it spread.
What do you need from me for a quote?
The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, along with a few photos and any previous report.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Include grilles in the cleaning rota
- Report leaks or damp near ceilings and risers
- Do not run the ventilation while builders are sanding or cutting
- Flag any dust coming out of the vents
Before any works, think about the ducts. Turn off the system or cover the openings during dusty jobs.
Regular inspection is the core of TR19® Air. Scheduled inspections spot dust before it becomes a major job.
What the work involves, part by part
Hospitals and care homes
In care settings, keeping dust contained is a priority. We protect the work area and take everything away.
Extract ductwork
Toilet and washroom extract can carry moisture as well as dust, so the dust tends to cling. We clean them and note any damp or corrosion.
What affects the cost of ventilation duct cleaning
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- The condition of the system
- Any permits to work or inductions
- The scale of the work
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before we start.
What we need to know
When you contact us, it’s useful to have:
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- The site address and the type of premises
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
Why it’s worth doing now in Graffham
A clean system moves air more easily, which takes strain off the fans. Dirty ducts make the whole system work harder. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

What staff can safely do
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
The process
Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. All told, the work takes a weekend for a modest system, with large buildings phased floor by floor. Somewhere like Graffham, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- First we plan when the work can happen, often out of hours.
- Access panels are opened along each run.
- Before photos are taken and the ducts cleaned section by section.
- We clean the grilles and diffusers and put them back.
- We take after pictures and send the certificate and report.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
Getting a quote
For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We typically come back within one working day.
