Need TR19 inspection in Dungeness?

Why deal with it now?

Skipping grease testing leaves the cleaning interval to guesswork. If grease reaches 500 microns anywhere, TR19® Grease calls for immediate spot cleaning, which you will not know without measuring. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

The cost depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

TR19 inspection in Dungeness

Under TR19® Grease, the mean grease thickness should stay at or below 200 microns between cleans, while a reading of 500 microns or more anywhere calls for immediate spot cleaning. Grease testing shows which side of those lines you’re on. If you have sections of duct that can’t be reached and missing TR19 certificates or history, we can put it right, from post-clean checks, deposit thickness tests and pre-clean surveys onwards.

Somewhere as small as Dungeness, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

What TR19 inspection can’t fix

TR19 inspection can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before we start. It does not solve:

  • Fire safety duties beyond the extract system
  • Design faults in the extract system
  • Hidden runs that need access panels first

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Post-clean checks
  • Pre-clean surveys
  • Insurer audits
  • Wet film thickness tests
  • Access surveys
  • Deposit thickness tests

How the job changes from site to site

Restaurants, pubs and hotels

We test between services, early in the morning or after close so the kitchen keeps cooking.

Extract fan and discharge

Grease builds up on the fan blades and inside the housing. They’re included in the readings and pictures.

Looking after it afterwards

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Wipe the canopy surfaces regularly
  • Keep access panels clear and unpainted
  • Keep TR19 certificates, readings and reports together
  • Keep to the recommended interval

Each report suggests the next clean and the next test, from the measured grease and the kitchen’s hours.

Keep certificates, reports and readings in one place so the history is easy to show.

Dungeness questions

Will you come out to Dungeness?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Dungeness is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

Can you work in Dungeness outside opening hours?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Dungeness needn’t be disturbed. When you call 0345 646 2711, or email photos, mention when the site is quiet.

What happens to the waste?

We contain it and take it with us. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go, so it does not spread.

What do you do to protect the area?

We start with protection: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.

Is a quote from pictures possible?

Yes, if we can see what we need. If not, a site survey comes first, then a fixed quote.

How much notice should we give?

That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.

What TR19 inspection looks like in Dungeness

At about 1 mile from the coast, Dungeness is close enough for sea air to matter. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. It’s Folkestone and Hythe council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Dungeness. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. Dungeness is covered by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Around Dungeness, as anywhere, we clean the parts you can’t see as well as the canopy you can. Kitchens in Dungeness get a clean bill of health at the end: a TR19® certificate and a photo report.

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Dungeness

The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:

  • The times the site is available
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • The scale of the work
  • The number of sites or systems

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

What to send for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:

  • Any previous report or certificate
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • The site address and the type of premises

For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. You will typically have a quote within one working day.

What happens on the day

The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system, and we clear up before we go. If you can send photos, we can arrive in Dungeness knowing what to expect.

  1. The visit is arranged for when the kitchen is not busy.
  2. The system is checked from canopy to discharge.
  3. We take WFTT or DTT readings at set points along the system.
  4. Photos are taken at each point, and access gaps noted.
  5. The findings go into a report with readings, pictures and a recommended next clean.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the space around the work
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions

Advice

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
