TR19 inspection in Anthill Common: the local picture
Food Standards Agency data counts about 5 restaurants, cafés and works canteens within about 1.5 miles of central Anthill Common. Kitchens like these cook for very different hours, and grease testing shows which extracts need cleaning soonest. Kitchens in Anthill Common get their food hygiene inspections from Winchester City council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after. The fire and rescue service for Anthill Common is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.

TR19 inspection in Anthill Common
Not every kitchen fits neatly into a calendar. In a busy kitchen, grease can build faster than the minimum intervals allow for, and only measurement shows it. We give your risk assessment measured figures rather than guesses. If you’re dealing with insurance renewals needing proof of TR19 cleaning and post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean, we can help, from deposit thickness tests, pre-clean surveys and wet film thickness tests onwards.
In a village or hamlet like Anthill Common, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.
We have been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

Different parts, different methods
Horizontal duct runs
Grease can gather thickly at bends and along long runs, out of sight of the kitchen.
Extract fan and discharge
Grease on the fan adds to wear. Readings show if it needs attention before the next clean.
Aftercare tips
Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:
- Keep the route to access panels clear
- Flag oily drips near the extract
- Flag changes in how much frying the kitchen does
- File every inspection report with your certificates
The audit report is set out to pass straight to your insurer or broker, with readings, photos and any areas not accessible.
Fit access panels where the survey finds sections cannot be reached, so grease isn’t left building in hidden parts.
Honest limits
We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Parts of the duct nobody can reach yet
- Design faults in the extract system
- The grease itself, which needs a full or spot clean
Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Anthill Common
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
Leave it or put it right?
Surveying first means the clean goes to plan. Missing access panels, hidden duct runs and awkward fans are found before the cleaners arrive, and the quote reflects the real job. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

What we do, step by step
There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. The timing of a visit to Anthill Common is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- First we look at the system’s cleaning history, if there is one.
- We follow the extract from canopy to discharge.
- We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
- Grease readings are taken and pictures recorded.
- We report back with readings and a fixed quote.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
Get a fixed quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Common questions in Anthill Common
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Anthill Common?
That is Winchester City council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Anthill Common. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.
Do you cover smaller places like Anthill Common?
Yes. Anthill Common is within the area we cover across London and the South East. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
How far ahead should we book?
For planned work, earlier is better, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.
How long does grease testing take?
It takes a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. We fit it around when the kitchen is closed or quiet.
Which sectors do you work in?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.
Where does the waste go?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. We do not leave it behind.
Do you check other contractors’ cleans?
Post-clean verification is a check after a clean, with fresh grease readings and photos. It works whoever carried out the clean.
Can you work evenings and weekends?
Yes. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote and we will book around them.
Signs you need TR19 inspection in Anthill Common
Grease in a duct is flammable fuel. A flare-up on the range can be drawn into the canopy and duct, and from there a fire can spread through the ductwork. Measuring it is the first step to keeping it under control.
What we are most often called out for:
- Confirming a clean reached the whole system
- Kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings
- Sites with gaps in their extract records
- Extracts that may be over the 200 micron mean
A hospital like Queen Alexandra Hospital, about 4.2 miles south, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.
Questions to ask before booking
- What hours they’ll be on site
- Whether the price is fixed
- Whether a written report and pictures are included
- If they look at the system before pricing
