Kitchen extract cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Sheet
Across Sheet, we clean kitchen extract systems to BESA TR19® Grease. We survey first and take grease readings, then clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, fan and discharge. You get a TR19 certificate and a photo report at the end. The work covers discharge points, extract fans and canopies and hoods, and the jobs we see most are a TR19 certificate needed for the insurer and ductwork thick with old, hardened grease. Canopy cleaning, extract cleaning and duct cleaning are often used to mean the same thing, but a proper TR19® clean in Sheet covers all of it, from the hood to the fan.
Most kitchens in Sheet fall into one of BESA’s three bands: every 3 months for 12–16 hours, every 6 months for 6–12 hours and every 12 months for 2–6 hours, with grease readings setting the real interval.
For a kitchen in or near Sheet, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
The paperwork matters as much as the work. Each visit is written up with photos, listing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. File it in your maintenance log so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

Why deal with it now?
There’s no law that names TR19, but the Fire Safety Order 2005 still applies. It puts a duty on the responsible person to assess and reduce fire risk, and in a kitchen that means keeping extract grease under control. TR19 is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Sheet is calmer for everyone.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
Why us?
- Trading since 2009
- Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
- We’re fully insured
- Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
How the visit works
The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. For a village or hamlet like Sheet, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.
- We start with a survey, so we know every part of the system before we quote.
- We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
- With the kitchen closed and equipment off and cool, the area is sheeted.
- Canopy, plenum, filters, duct runs, risers, fan and discharge are all cleaned to TR19® Grease.
- Readings and photos are taken again, and you receive a TR19 certificate and photo report.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
How to get a quote
Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we normally reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning
The quote reflects the site in front of us. We take into account:
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- The size of the system
- What state the system is in
What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.
Asking for a quote
We can often survey from pictures. The most useful are:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Aftercare tips
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Switch the fan on before cooking starts
- Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
- Keep grease collection points emptied
- Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
After cleaning, we re-test the same points we measured at the start, giving you before and after readings alongside the photos. A TR19 certificate follows, issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Keep the outside of the canopy wiped and any grease cups emptied. It won’t replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.
Sheet questions
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Sheet?
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Sheet. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Can a school canteen extract in Sheet be done out of term time?
Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. The FSA’s register shows about 5 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Sheet. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.
How much notice should we give?
The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We normally quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.
How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost?
Every site is different, so each gets its own fixed quote. To get one, call 0345 646 2711 or email us with the site type, opening hours and a few pictures.
Why do insurers care about extract cleaning?
Because a dirty extract can spread a fire through a building. Many insurers require TR19 cleaning, and may refuse or reduce a claim without proof, so keep every certificate.
What types of premises do you cover?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a small pub to a hospital. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.
Will I get a certificate after the clean?
You get both a certificate and a photo report. They belong in the maintenance log so they’re to hand when an insurer asks.
Part by part
Ductwork and risers
Risers take the extract up through floors to roof level, and grease runs down their walls and pools at the base. They’re cleaned through access points along their height.
Canopy and plenum
The canopy catches the vapour, and the plenum behind the filters is where it first condenses. Both are scraped and degreased inside and out, including the filter housing.

Signs you need kitchen extract cleaning in Sheet
The type of cooking changes the amount of grease. Fryers, grills and open flames throw much more fat into the extract than gentler cooking, which is why grease readings matter more than the calendar.
The symptoms we’re asked about most include:
- Missing paperwork after a change of operator
- Extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit
- An extract that has never been cleaned to TR19
- Grease smells coming from the extract
Term dates shape school work: for a school like Sheet Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.
