Grease Filter Exchange in Sheet
Grease filter exchange for Sheet, from a team that has been trading since 2009. Out-of-hours visits and 24/7 emergency callout.
- Weak extraction at the canopy
- Drips falling from the filters onto equipment
- Blocked baffle filters
Grease filter exchange in Sheet
Baffle filters and mesh filters both fill with grease. Clogged filters choke the airflow and the fan has to work harder. Regular exchange keeps the air moving. The work covers island canopies, school and hospital kitchens and wall canopies, and the jobs we see most are filters that leave gaps in the canopy and grease building up behind the canopy filters.
Work in a small place like Sheet starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

How we price grease filter exchange
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- A single visit or a regular plan
- The scale of the work
We do not list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.
What to send for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- A few general shots of the system
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Leave it or put it right?
Changing filters on schedule costs far less disruption than a blocked extract. Few maintenance jobs are as easy, and one of the easiest to let slip. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Sheet is calmer for everyone.
What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.

Honest limits
Not every problem is solved by grease filter exchange, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It will not put right:
- A canopy too small for the cooking beneath it
- Grease deep in the extract system
- Smell complaints that need odour control equipment
If you are not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Different parts, different methods
Canopy filter housings
Filters sit in a housing or channel in the canopy. A damaged housing leaves gaps.
The plenum
With good filters, less grease ends up in the plenum, but it’s still cleaned during a full TR19 clean.
What grease filter exchange looks like in Sheet
The FSA’s data shows about 11 pubs, bars and clubs registered within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Sheet. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service covers Sheet. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. It’s East Hampshire council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Sheet. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Petersfield Community Hospital is the nearest hospital to Sheet, about 1.3 miles south-west. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Mary Magdalene or elsewhere in Sheet, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. For schools such as Sheet Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Sheet questions
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Sheet?
Fire safety enforcement in Sheet is handled by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Sheet?
The local authority for Sheet is East Hampshire council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.
Will we have to stop cooking for a filter change?
Most changes take a few minutes per canopy, longer for a large kitchen with several canopies, so the impact is small. We will fit it around your service wherever we can.
Do you clean filters as well as exchanging them?
We can. Some kitchens prefer their own filters cleaned on a schedule while others want an exchange. We make sure the canopy is ready for service either way.
What about areas you can’t get to?
We record them on the report, with photos where possible, and we tell you what would make it reachable, such as extra access panels in ductwork.
How much notice should we give?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
Are you accredited?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We are fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
What does TR19 mean?
It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping and expects a risk-based approach.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with photos.
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Hampshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.

Ask for a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
