Kitchen extract cleaning in Ifold

Kitchen extract cleaning in Ifold, done properly

We have been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. Typical jobs include poor airflow at the canopy and proof of cleaning requested by an insurer, across vertical risers, discharge points and extract fans. Searching for commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in Ifold? Duct Doctor has covered London and the South East since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member.

What can be cleaned depends on what can be reached. Sections without access panels are recorded on the report, and new panels can be fitted so they’re cleaned next time.

In a small place like Ifold, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Grease, kitchens and Ifold

Environmental health officers from Chichester council inspect food businesses in Ifold. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. At about 35 miles from central London, Ifold sits well inside the area we cover. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours.

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St John the Baptist or elsewhere in Ifold, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

Ifold is about 9 miles west of Horsham, in West Sussex. Ifold gets the same approach as every site we work on: diagnosis first, a fixed price, out-of-hours working where necessary and a written report with photos. 371 places in West Sussex are on our list, from busy centres to quieter spots. Guildford is in our area too, around 12 miles away.

Kitchen extract cleaning in RH14 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. Whether your site is on Birchwood Close, The Drive and Wildacre Close or anywhere close by, we can help. We also cover Loxwood (1 mile north-east), Plaistow (1 mile west), Alfold Bars (2 miles north-east), Mackerel's Common (2 miles south) and Durfold Wood (2 miles north-west). We also work in nearby towns such as Crawley (15 miles east), Horsham (9 miles east), Broadfield (14 miles east), Storrington (11 miles south), Billingshurst (5 miles south-east) and Bewbush (14 miles east).

What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix

We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Fat blocking the kitchen drains
  • Fire dampers that will not close (that needs damper testing and remedials)
  • Ductwork that is corroded, split or leaking (that’s for a ductwork contractor)

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Plenums and filters
  • Vertical risers
  • Extract fans
  • Discharge points
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Horizontal duct runs

What we do, step by step

The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes one visit for most kitchens, while large or complex systems may need more than one, and we clear up before we go. Seeing the system in pictures first means the trip to Ifold can be planned properly.

  1. We survey the system first, from your photos and details or on a site visit.
  2. We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
  3. Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
  4. The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
  5. Readings and photos are taken again, and you receive a TR19 certificate and photo report.

Multi-site and managed buildings

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit ends with a dated report and pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Do you need kitchen extract cleaning in Ifold?

Grease in an extract starts as vapour. As the air cools on its way through the duct, the fat condenses and sticks, and the layer grows a little with every meal cooked. Filters catch some of it, but never all.

Common reasons sites call us are:

  • Years of baked-on grease in the ducts
  • A TR19 certificate needed for the insurer
  • A kitchen with no current TR19 certificate
  • Fat running down the canopy edge

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Loxwood Primary School or anywhere near Ifold, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

Before you book anyone

  • How VAT is shown on the quote
  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • Proof of insurance

Our hiring checklist

Keeping the system healthy

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:

  • Do not let the canopy gutters overflow
  • Never cook with filters missing or out of place
  • Tell us when the extract starts to drip or smell
  • Keep the baffle filters clean

If we couldn’t get into part of the duct, the report says so plainly. That’s part of an honest TR19 clean, not a failing, and new access panels can be fitted so the next clean covers it.

Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. It won’t replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. That’s our job.

Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in Ifold

Can you get to a site in Ifold?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Ifold included. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Ifold in the summer holidays?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. The FSA’s register shows about 2 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Ifold. Just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

What information do you need?

Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and the last report help too. Then give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

What about areas you cannot get to?

The report shows them clearly. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, which we can install.

What does a TR19 kitchen extract clean include?

A TR19 Grease clean covers the full extract route, not just the canopy. That means canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge, reached through access panels where necessary.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you will get one fixed quote.

Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?

The clean is done when the kitchen isn’t cooking, so evenings, overnight, early mornings and weekends are all options. We need the equipment switched off and cooled first.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.

Part by part

Restaurant and pub kitchens

Grills, fryers and woks send a lot of fat into the extract, and measured readings show whether the minimum interval is enough.

Canopy and plenum

Canopies vary from a single hood to long runs over several appliances, every section is cleaned and recorded in the photo report before and after.
