Kitchen Extract Cleaning in Heston
We cover Heston for kitchen extract cleaning. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with pictures as standard.
- A TR19 certificate needed for the insurer
- An extract that no longer clears the smoke
- Years of baked-on grease in the ducts
How we price kitchen extract cleaning
The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- How easy every part is to reach
Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Mention every system or site you need covered, and you will get one fixed quote.
Asking for a quote
You do not need the technical terms. Just send:
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- A few general shots of the system
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
Kitchen duct cleaning in Heston
Across Heston, we clean kitchen extract systems to BESA TR19® Grease. We survey first and take grease readings, then clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, fan and discharge. You get a TR19 certificate and a photo report at the end. If you have a TR19 certificate needed for the insurer and a kitchen with no current TR19 certificate, we can put it right. Hood cleaning is where most enquiries from Heston start: a system that’s clean inside, not just on the surface, and a certificate that proves it.
A kitchen running fryers and chargrills all day builds up grease much faster than one that mostly steams and boils, so the interval is set by what you cook as well as how long.
Kitchens in Heston, like many across London, can share a building with flats or offices, with the duct running up through shared risers. A duct fire there can reach parts of the building far from the range, which is why keeping it clean to TR19® matters.
The report is your system’s health record: dated, with pictures, and showing what was done. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

Kitchen extract cleaning in Heston: the local picture
Food Standards Agency records list about 275 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 124 sandwich bars and takeaways within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Heston. Each one that cooks under a canopy has an extract system that collects grease and needs regular cleaning. Most London extract cleaning happens at night, after the last service. It’s Hounslow council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Heston. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Westbrook Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Leonard's Church or elsewhere in Heston, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.
Heston is about 2 miles south of Southall, in Greater London. We provide kitchen extract cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Heston and the rest of Greater London. We cover 764 places across Greater London, large and small. We also work in London, about 12 miles from Heston.
We work across TW5, UB2 and TW3 for kitchen extract cleaning and the roads nearby. Part by part
Schools, hospitals and care homes
Institutional kitchens tend to cook to set hours, so cleans can be booked when the kitchen is closed. The certificate and report suit estates and compliance files.
Ductwork and risers
Horizontal runs collect grease as the air slows and cools. We open access panels along the route and clean each section, recording any that cannot be reached.
Do you need kitchen extract cleaning in Heston?
Grease in the extract matters because it burns. Flames from a pan or grill can be pulled into the canopy by the fan, where burning grease can carry a fire along the ducts and into other parts of the building. For a kitchen in Heston, keeping that fuel under control is part of the fire risk assessment.
Most sites get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Poor airflow at the canopy
- Ductwork thick with old, hardened grease
- Missing paperwork after a change of operator
- Rancid smells from grease in the duct
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Hounslow Hospital about 1.2 miles south, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
What happens if it’s left?
Grease that is left only gets thicker. Under BESA guidance, grease shouldn’t exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, and anywhere reaching 500 microns or more needs a spot clean right away. Heavy build-up takes longer to remove than regular cleans. Every month a London system goes without attention adds to what has to be done later.
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.
What you get with us

- Fixed quotes from a survey or photos
- Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
- Photo reports with every job
The process
There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. In Heston, as across London, we normally work overnight or at weekends and hand the site back ready to open.
- We survey the system, from your photos or on site, canopy to discharge.
- Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- Readings are repeated, pictures taken, and your TR19 certificate and photo report issued.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored near the system
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Questions from Heston
Does London parking affect a job in Heston?
A loading bay, a visitor permit or off-street space near the site in Heston makes the visit easier to plan. Night visits tend to make loading easier on London streets.
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Heston?
Kitchens in Heston are inspected by Hounslow council’s environmental health officers. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
How often does a kitchen extract system need cleaning?
It depends on how many hours a day the kitchen cooks. Heavy use of 12 to 16 hours a day calls for a clean at least every 3 months under BESA guidance, and lighter use less often. Your report gives a recommended next clean date.
Are you a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 sit alongside that, and we are fully insured.
Does the law say I must clean to TR19?
TR19® itself isn’t law. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19 is the benchmark used to show extract grease is under control.
Will the clean disrupt our service?
We work around your hours. Overnight, weekend and between-service cleans are all possible and the kitchen is ready to cook when we leave.
Which parts of the extract do you clean?
A TR19 Grease clean covers the full extract route, not just the canopy. Canopy, plenum, filters, ductwork, risers, fan and discharge are all included, reached through access panels where needed.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Keep the baffle filters clean
- Wipe the canopy down at the end of each day
- Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
- Do not let the canopy gutters overflow
The kitchen is left clean and ready for the next service. Grease and dirty water are collected and taken off site, so you can start cooking as normal.
Clean the grease filters often, not just on clean day. Clean, well-fitted filters catch more fat before it reaches the duct, so the ductwork stays cleaner for longer.
