Commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in Cranmore

Every time food is cooked, warm vapour carries fat up into the extract. As it cools, it clings to the inside of the ductwork and keeps building. That film is fuel, and cleaning the whole system is how you keep it under control. If you have grease drips onto cooking equipment and an extract that has never been cleaned to TR19, we can help. Hood cleaning is where most enquiries from Cranmore start: a clean that goes past the canopy into the duct and fan, backed by a certificate.

BESA sets minimum intervals by hours of cooking a day: every 3 months for 12–16 hours, every 6 months for 6–12 hours and every 12 months for 2–6 hours, with grease readings setting the real interval.

Work in a small place like Cranmore starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What we do, step by step

We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the job takes one visit for most kitchens, while large or complex systems may need more than one. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Cranmore.

  1. We start with a survey, so we know every part of the system before we quote.
  2. We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
  3. Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
  4. The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
  5. Finally the system is re-tested and photographed, and the certificate and report follow.

How to prepare

  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

Advice

Fixed quotes for kitchen extract cleaning in Cranmore

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • How big the system is
  • How easy every part is to reach
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Travel, parking and unloading

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before we start.

What to send for a quote

What to send for a quote:

  • Any previous report or certificate
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room

Want a quote for kitchen extract cleaning? Please ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with a few details about the site. We will talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before anything is booked.

What a clean will not put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • An undersized canopy or fan
  • A duct that’s holed or coming apart
  • A broken extract fan that won’t run

If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll say what we think.

Where we work

  • Vertical risers
  • Discharge points
  • Plenums and filters
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Extract fans

Multi-site and managed buildings

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Why deal with it now?

After a fire, one of the first questions is often when the extract was last cleaned. Many insurers ask for proof of TR19 cleaning and may reduce or refuse a claim without it. A certificate in the file answers that question. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.

What you get with us

  • One number for every site across the South East and London
  • Survey first, then a fixed quote
  • Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line
  • Ventilation hygiene specialists since 2009

What your team can do, and what needs us

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

FAQs for Cranmore

Can sea air affect kitchen extract cleaning in Cranmore?

It can. Being within about 1 mile of the sea means more corrosion on metalwork in Cranmore than inland. Rooftop fans, discharge cowls and fixings are checked for corrosion as well as grease.

Can school kitchens in Cranmore be cleaned in the holidays?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. The FSA’s register shows about 2 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Cranmore. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

Will I get a certificate after the clean?

A TR19 certificate and a photo report. Certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, and the report shows before and after photos, readings, any areas not reached and the next clean date.

What happens if you cannot reach some of it?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.

Which sectors do you work in?

We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.

Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?

Extract grease is fuel for a kitchen fire, so many insurers want evidence it’s being cleaned to TR19. Our certificate and photo report give you that evidence.

What is TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

How much notice do you need?

That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.

How the job changes from site to site

Extract fan and discharge

The fan pulls the air through the whole system, and grease that gets past everything else ends up on its blades. It’s isolated, opened and cleaned as part of the TR19 clean.

Canopy and plenum

Grease meets the system first at the canopy and the plenum behind the filters. Both are scraped and degreased inside and out, with the filter housing cleaned too.

Cranmore kitchens: local notes

Cranmore lies within about 1 mile of the sea. Salt in the air is hard on rooftop fans, discharge cowls and fixings, so we check them for corrosion as well as grease. Cranmore sits within the area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Kitchens in Cranmore get their food hygiene inspections from Isle of Wight council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Shalfleet Church of England Primary School or anywhere near Cranmore, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Cranmore (Swainston Manor is about 3.4 miles south-east), fitting access panels needs care. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Lymington New Forest Hospital is the nearest hospital to Cranmore, about 5.9 miles north-west.
