Kitchen extraction cleaning in Chale
Need kitchen extract cleaning in Chale? We survey first, give you a fixed quote and work around your opening hours, finishing with a written report and photos.
- Stale cooking odours from the system
- Years of baked-on grease in the ducts
- An extract that has never been cleaned to TR19
What happens if it’s left?
After a fire, one of the first questions is often when the extract was last cleaned. Many policies require cleaning to TR19, and an insurer can refuse or reduce a claim without proof. A certificate in the file answers that question. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

Kitchen extract cleaning in Chale, done properly
We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. We’re often asked to deal with grease drips onto cooking equipment and stale cooking odours from the system, across extract fans, horizontal duct runs and canopies and hoods. Kitchens in Chale book us for TR19 cleaning for three reasons: the insurer asked, the EHO asked, or the canopy is dripping. We handle the clean and the paperwork in one visit.
Each job starts with a look at where grease has built up: grease readings at set points tell us where the heaviest deposits are, and readings afterwards go into your report.
For a kitchen in or near Chale, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
The report is your system’s health record: dated, with photos, and showing what was done. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

Questions from Chale
Is Chale within the area you cover?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Chale included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Is kitchen extract cleaning any different in a coastal place like Chale?
Yes, to a degree: at about 1 mile from the coast, Chale gets salt-laden air that corrodes metal faster. Outdoor metalwork near the sea is worth inspecting at every visit.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.
When do you clean the extract?
The clean is done when the kitchen is not cooking, working evenings, overnight or at weekends to suit you. Equipment needs to be off and cool before we start.
Can you price the work without visiting?
Yes, if we can see what we need. If not, a site survey comes first, then a fixed quote.
What information do you need?
Some pictures and a quick description of the system, with the address and opening hours. We’ll ask for anything else we need.
How long does it take to clean a kitchen extract system?
Allow anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system. The survey tells us how long your system will need.
How do you protect the area?
Protection goes down first: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.
What happens on the day
The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Chale before we set off.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the system and how it’s reached.
- We record grease levels at set points, then fix the price.
- We arrive after close, protect the area and contain the waste.
- The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
- Then the clean bill of health: readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next date.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
Getting a quote
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, pictures of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Advice
What your team can do, and what needs us
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
Part by part
Extract fan and discharge
At the end of the system is the discharge, which can collect grease and stain the surface around it. We clean it where it can be safely reached, and any limits are recorded.
Canopy and plenum
Canopies vary from a single hood to long runs over several appliances, every section is cleaned and recorded in the photo report before and after.
Kitchen extract cleaning around Chale
Sea air reaches Chale, which sits within about 1 mile of the coast. Salt air speeds up corrosion of roof-level fans, discharge cowls and their fixings. Look up Chale on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you will find about 3 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Chale. Any of them cooking under a canopy is sending grease into its ductwork every service. It’s Isle of Wight council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Chale. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Wolverton Manor is about 3.4 miles north-west), access may need planning. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Andrew's Church or elsewhere in Chale, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.
Chale is about 7 miles south of Newport, in the Isle of Wight. Sites in Chale get the same service as everywhere we cover: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with photos. Chale is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover for kitchen extract cleaning. There’s also a page for Portsmouth, about 18 miles away.
We cover every part of the PO38 postcode area for kitchen extract cleaning and the streets around it. Whether your site is on Church Place, Upper House Lane and Blythe Shute or a nearby road, our technicians can take on the work. Nearby, we also carry out kitchen extract cleaning in Blackgang (1 mile south-east), Pyle (1 mile north-west), Chale Green (1 mile north), Atherfield Green (1 mile north-west) and Niton (2 miles south-east). Larger places within reach include Newport (7 miles north), Ryde (11 miles north-east), Cowes (11 miles north), Sandown (8 miles north-east), Shanklin (7 miles east) and Ventnor (5 miles east). Island and remote sites take a little more planning, so please mention your location when you ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

When to call us in Chale
A kitchen in Chale builds up grease in the same places as any other: in long flat runs, at bends and changes of direction, and in the fan housing. Cooler sections of duct collect the most.
Common reasons sites call us are:
- Fat running down the canopy edge
- Proof of cleaning requested by an insurer
- An extract that no longer clears the smoke
- A kitchen taken over without any extract records
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Whitecroft Hospital is the nearest hospital to Chale, about 5.2 miles north.
Comparing quotes
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
- What paperwork you get at the end
- When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
- Whether they’re fully insured
Between visits
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Wash or exchange the filters often
- Never cook with filters missing or out of place
- Report grease drips, smells or fan noise right away
- Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
If we couldn’t get into part of the duct, the report says so plainly. A TR19 report should record what wasn’t cleaned as well as what was, and we can fit access panels so it’s reached next time.
Keep the fan on throughout service. Cooking with the extract off lets grease and heat settle in the canopy, and the next clean has more to do.
Multi-site and managed buildings
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so records stay tidy.
