How we handle kitchen deep cleaning in Gadebridge
A good daily routine keeps the surfaces clean but some areas never get touched. Behind and under equipment, and high up on walls and ceilings, grease quietly builds up. A deep clean deals with all of it in one planned visit. The work covers walls and ceilings, ranges and ovens and stainless steel surfaces, and people most often call us about a kitchen taken over in poor condition and food debris trapped under the range.
In a place like Gadebridge, kitchens often sit in older buildings with older drains. A blocked drain or a smelly grease trap is normally the first sign.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

What a clean will not put right
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what kitchen deep cleaning won’t do:
- A blocked or overflowing grease trap
- Damaged flooring, walls or ceilings that need repair
- Grease inside the canopy, plenum and ductwork, which needs a TR19 clean
If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think.
Parts of the system we cover

- Walls and ceilings
- Fryers and grills

For landlords and multi-site operators
Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
Questions from Gadebridge
Which council inspects kitchens in Gadebridge?
The local authority for Gadebridge is Dacorum council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.
Do you clean school kitchens in Gadebridge in the summer holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Food Standards Agency records list about 20 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Gadebridge. You can phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the dates the site is empty.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Each report and certificate we give you, filed in the maintenance log, along with your own cleaning log. BESA says certificates should show the date, location and technician.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.
Can you clean outside our opening hours?
We fit the clean around your hours. Overnight, early morning and weekend cleans are all possible so you don’t lose a service.
What’s included in a kitchen deep clean?
A deep clean covers the areas daily cleaning misses, from the ceiling down to the floor behind the equipment. The cooking equipment is cleaned too.
What’s TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.
What accreditations do you have?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.
What we do, step by step
The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and photos. The middle part takes longest, which takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the kitchen. Everything the job in Gadebridge needs is worked out beforehand, from the survey.
- We look at the kitchen with you to plan the clean.
- Areas are protected and equipment is made safe.
- Grease is removed from ceilings, walls and equipment.
- We clean the spaces behind and beneath the equipment.
- Floors are done last and the kitchen is ready to use.
Getting ready for the visit
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
Get a fixed quote
For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We normally come back within one working day.

What affects the cost of kitchen deep cleaning
There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:
- How big the system is
- Travel, parking and unloading
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- The number of sites or systems
We do not list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we will explain what it covers.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
Need a price for kitchen deep cleaning? Please call 0345 646 2711 or email us with a few details about the site. We’ll talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before anything is booked.
Do you need kitchen deep cleaning in Gadebridge?
Crumbs and scraps end up behind the cooking line. Combined with grease, it becomes the kind of mess pests like unless it’s cleaned out.
Look out for any of the following:
- Food debris trapped under the range
- A deep clean to go alongside a TR19 extract clean
- Grease built up on walls and ceilings
- Cooking equipment caked in carbon
Hall kitchens near St Alban's Church or elsewhere in Gadebridge may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean.
Questions to ask before you book
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- Whether they recommend a next date
- Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
- What insurance they carry
What the work involves, part by part
Walls and ceilings
Walls and ceilings collect grease carried up by heat and steam. We clean them from the top down so nothing drips onto clean areas.
Canopy exteriors
The outside of the canopy collects grease and dust. We clean the exterior as part of the deep clean.
What staff can safely do
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Commercial kitchens in Gadebridge
There are about 67 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 42 takeaways within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Gadebridge, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Grease settles behind fryers, under ranges and on high surfaces in kitchens like these. Food hygiene inspections in Gadebridge are the job of Dacorum council’s environmental health team. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Hemel Hempstead Hospital (about 1.2 miles south-east), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals. School kitchens, at schools like Galley Hill Primary School and Nursery for example, usually have their deep cleans and grease trap work done while the canteen is closed.
