Kitchen deep cleaning in Fords Farm
Many kitchens book a deep clean alongside their TR19® extract clean. We clean the extract system and the room it serves, so the whole space is done in one go. It works on its own as well, between extract cleans. The work covers behind and under equipment, floors and floor drains and walls and ceilings, and the jobs we see most are floors with grease along the edges and a kitchen clean booked with the extract clean.
In a place like Fords Farm, kitchens often sit in older buildings with older drains. A blocked drain or a smelly grease trap is usually the first sign.
We’ve been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What affects the cost of kitchen deep cleaning
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- How big the system is
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Any permits to work or inductions
- The number of sites or systems
You will not find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- A few general shots of the system
- Your last certificate, test record or report
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Then call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
Fords Farm questions
Can you work in Fords Farm outside opening hours?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The site is handed back ready to open. Let us know the hours you are closed and we will book within them.
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Fords Farm?
Kitchens in Fords Farm are inspected by Reading council’s environmental health officers. An officer may look behind equipment and at drains, so it pays to have the deep clean booked before those areas build up.
Do you work in Fords Farm?
Yes. Fords Farm is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.
Which areas does a deep clean cover?
We clean the whole kitchen from top to bottom. The exact list is agreed when we quote, so there are no surprises.
What about areas you cannot get to?
They’re marked on the report. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, and we can fit those.
Can you give me a price for a deep clean?
Size, equipment and the level of build-up all affect the price. We can quote from photos or a site visit, and you will get a fixed quote.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.
How much notice do you need?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with photos.
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit ends with a dated report and photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
Fords Farm kitchens: local notes
The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 26 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 16 takeaways within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Fords Farm. Every one of them has corners the daily clean doesn’t reach. In Fords Farm, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Reading council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Photos and dates from each deep clean make a useful record.
Historic houses such as Mapledurham House (about 3.1 miles north) are part of the area around Fords Farm, and if you run event catering at a venue like that, a deep clean between seasons helps. If you look after a hall kitchen near St Matthew's or anywhere in Fords Farm, a deep clean between busy seasons is easier than a scramble before a big event. Battle Hospital, about 1.7 miles north-east, is the nearest hospital to Fords Farm; healthcare kitchens can’t stop cooking, so deep cleans are worked around meal times.

When it’s something else
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Equipment that is not working properly
- An active pest infestation, which needs a pest control contractor
- Grease in the ducts above the kitchen
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
What the work covers
- Walls and ceilings
- Fryers and grills
- Stainless steel surfaces
- Floors and floor drains
- Ranges and ovens
- Behind and under equipment
The process
The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes several hours, depending on the kitchen and the equipment in it. Around Fords Farm, access is usually simpler than in a town centre, though gates and roof access are worth mentioning.
- A pre-clean look round tells us what’s needed.
- Areas are protected and equipment is made safe.
- Grease is removed from ceilings, walls and equipment.
- We clean the spaces behind and beneath the equipment.
- Floors are done last and the kitchen is ready to use.
Preparing for the visit
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Find the previous report, if there is one

What staff can safely do
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Looking after it afterwards
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Do not wait for an inspection to book a deep clean
- Pair kitchen deep cleans with extract cleans
- Clean spills while they’re fresh, before they bake on
- Repair worn surfaces that trap grime
Equipment is put back in place before we leave so your team can start up as normal. There’s nothing extra to do once it’s back in service.
Splashes left on hot surfaces bake on. Regular deep cleans clear them before they harden and helps the equipment last.
Why it’s worth doing now in Fords Farm
In any kitchen in Fords Farm, the extract and the room it serves get greasy side by side. Cleaning the extract but not the room, or the other way round, only does half the job, so many kitchens book both. A visit arranged in advance is far less disruptive than a callout on a busy day.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.
