About our grease trap cleaning in The Platt

Grease trap cleaning keeps the drains running and the smells away. We empty the built-up grease and food solids and the chambers and baffles cleaned and the trap checked before we leave. If you are dealing with sinks that drain slowly and an under-sink trap that keeps filling up, we can put it right, from school and care home kitchens, under-sink grease traps and inline grease traps onwards.

Somewhere as small as The Platt, the kitchens that need a deep clean are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Wherever there is one, it needs its grease trap and hard-to-reach areas kept clean.

The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Managing agents and facilities teams in The Platt

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

How it works

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. You only need to give us clear access and switch off what needs to be off. On site, the work takes an hour or two in most kitchens, depending on the size and condition of the trap. If you can send photos, we can arrive in The Platt knowing what to expect.

  1. We agree a time when the sinks are not needed.
  2. We open the trap and look at its condition.
  3. We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
  4. We clean the baffles, inlet and outlet.
  5. The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.

Advice

Keeping the system healthy

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Get food waste into the bin, not the sink
  • Report slow or smelly sinks early
  • Tell us if your menu or hours change
  • Do not rely on hot water to clear grease

Between cleans, keep food scraps out of the sink. Use strainers in the sink plugholes before they reach the trap.

Fat that escapes the trap hardens in the pipework. Clearing it then is a bigger job, so it’s far better to keep the trap clean.

How we price grease trap cleaning

Your quote is based on your site. We consider:

  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The times the site is available

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

Asking for a quote

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • A few general shots of the system
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then send you a fixed quote. To start, ring 0345 646 2711 or email us.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Food hygiene inspections in The Platt are the job of Wealden council’s environmental health team. An inspection covers the structure of the kitchen as well as the food. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.

Hall and church kitchens, near The Parish Church of St Alban or anywhere around The Platt, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order. Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like Frant Church of England Primary School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned. The Platt is about 4 miles south of Royal Tunbridge Wells, in Kent. Across the TN3 area, we cover grease trap cleaning for commercial sites. Across Kent, we cover 922 places, The Platt among them. You can also see our page for Maidstone, about 17 miles away.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

A blocked drain in a busy kitchen can stop service. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.

Inline grease traps

Access to an inline trap can be in a floor or cupboard. We check how to reach it before the visit.

When something else is needed

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:

  • A unit that can’t cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Grease set hard in the drain run
  • Sewer problems outside the premises

If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Where we work

  • Pot wash sinks
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways

The Platt questions

Which council inspects kitchens in The Platt?

The local authority for The Platt is Wealden council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Keep the dates of your last deep clean and grease trap visit with your food safety records, ready if an officer asks.

Do you work at weekends in The Platt?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in The Platt can fit around your hours. Just call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your opening times and we’ll plan around them.

What’s the right interval for grease trap cleaning?

The right interval depends on your trap and your cooking. Slow or smelly sinks between cleans mean it needs doing more often, and we can shorten it.

Do you deal with blocked drains beyond the grease trap?

Our service covers the grease trap itself. Where the problem is further down the drain, we will say so so you can call a drainage contractor.

What about areas you can’t get to?

We record them on the report, with photos where possible, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that cannot wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.

What is TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.
