- Foul odours from the grease trap
How we handle grease trap cleaning in Frant
Grease is behind most blocked kitchen drains. Down the line, they can add to fatbergs in the sewer. A well-maintained trap holds them back. If you have a blocked kitchen drain caused by grease and an under-sink trap that keeps filling up, we can put it right, from kitchen waste pipes, pot wash sinks and under-sink grease traps onwards.
Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

When something else is needed
We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Grease set hard in the drain run
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Leave it or put it right?
Grease that gets past the trap does not disappear. It adds to blockages further down the drains and sewer. Keeping it in the trap, and emptying the trap, is the responsible thing to do. A planned visit to Frant is easier to arrange than an emergency callout.
What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

How the visit works
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before we start, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Visits to a village like Frant are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.
- We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- The trap is emptied of grease and food waste.
- The inside, baffles and pipe connections are cleaned.
- We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
Get a fixed quote
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning
The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- How many systems or sites are involved
- Any permits to work or inductions
- The scale of the work
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered, and you will get one fixed quote.
Helping us quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few photos and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

What else we do in Frant
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit ends with a dated report and photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Kent. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.
Keeping the system healthy
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
- Act on gurgling or smelly drains
- Collect waste cooking oil separately
- Don’t store things on top of the trap
Scrape plates into the bin before washing up. Sink strainers help catch solids before they reach the trap.
More cooking means more grease in the trap. Booking cleans more often keeps the drains flowing.
What the work involves, part by part
Grease interceptors
An interceptor works on the same principle as a smaller trap. Grease floats and solids sink.
Baffles and outlets
We check the inlet, outlet and baffles at each clean so water flows freely.

Common questions in Frant
Can you come to Frant after we close?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in Frant can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
Do you work in villages like Frant?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Frant included. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Why does a grease trap need regular cleaning?
Grease and food waste build up until the trap stops working. The result is slow drains, foul odours and eventually a blockage.
What happens to the waste?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.
What types of grease trap do you clean?
Under-sink units, inline traps and interceptors are all covered. Let us know what’s fitted and we will plan around it.
Will we have to shut during the visit?
Not normally. The area we are working in has to be out of use while we’re there, so the visit goes in a quiet slot.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and the details are available on request.
How long will the sinks be out of use?
A typical clean takes less than an hour for many under-sink units including checking it drains. It’s booked when the sinks are not needed.
