Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Rock

Fats, oils and grease are the main cause of blocked kitchen drains. Further on, grease can build into fatbergs in the sewer. A grease trap that’s emptied and cleaned regularly holds them back. If you have sinks that drain slowly and drains that gurgle and bubble, we can help.

In a village or hamlet like Rock, commercial kitchens are few, perhaps a pub, a school or a care home. Each still needs the occasional deep clean and its grease trap kept clear.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Rock kitchens: local notes

Food hygiene inspections in Rock are the job of Horsham council’s environmental health team. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time. Rock is about 43 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site.

Where a church or community hall near The Parish Church of St Mary, or anywhere in Rock, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event. Parham House, about 3.9 miles west, is one of the historic houses around Rock; event kitchens at places like that work in bursts, so a deep clean after a busy season helps.

Rock is about 6 miles north of Worthing, in West Sussex. Whether your site is in the middle of Rock or further out, grease trap cleaning is available to all kinds of commercial premises, from a single unit to a large public building. Rock is one of 371 towns, villages and districts in West Sussex where we work for commercial clients. We also work in Brighton, about 13 miles from Rock.

Here we cover the RH20 postcode area for grease trap cleaning. We cover sites on Old London Road, London Road and Lamorna Close and nearby roads. Nearby, we also carry out grease trap cleaning in Washington (1 mile south), Heath Common (1 mile north-west), Sullington (1 mile west), Warminghurst (2 miles north) and Storrington (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Horsham (11 miles north), Worthing (6 miles south), Bognor Regis (15 miles south-west), Haywards Heath (15 miles north-east), Burgess Hill (12 miles east) and Littlehampton (9 miles south-west).

When something else is needed

Not every problem is solved by grease trap cleaning, and we’ll tell you before we start. It does not solve:

  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
  • Leaking pipework or sink wastes, which need a plumber
  • Blockages further down the drainage network

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will tell you honestly.

What the work covers

  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Pot wash sinks

Leave it or put it right?

Grease that gets past the trap doesn’t disappear. It adds to blockages further down the drains and sewer. A well-maintained trap keeps it where it can be removed. Somewhere as small as Rock, losing a kitchen or building to a fault is felt by everyone who uses it.

We do not list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we’ll explain what it covers.

What happens on the day

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and it goes on the report too. All told, the work takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Rock.

  1. We agree a time when the sinks are not needed.
  2. The trap is opened up and checked.
  3. Built-up grease and food waste are taken out.
  4. We clean the baffles, inlet and outlet.
  5. The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.

Advice

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Between visits

Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Wipe grease off pans before washing them
  • Mention any increase in cooking
  • Collect waste cooking oil separately
  • Fit sink strainers to catch food scraps

Between cleans, keep food scraps out of the sink. Use strainers in the sink plugholes before they reach the trap.

If the kitchen has got busier, the trap fills faster. Booking cleans more often stops it overflowing.

Part by part

Under-sink grease traps

Under-sink units are easy to forget. When they fill, the sink slows and starts to smell.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

We time visits to avoid service so the kitchen is not disrupted.

Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Rock

Can a school kitchen in Rock be done out of term time?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Around Rock, the Food Standards Agency lists about 2 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Just ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with your term dates and we will plan around them.

Do you work at weekends in Rock?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. The site is handed back ready to open. When you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, mention when the site is quiet.

Which records should we keep?

The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them together and easy to find.

Do you cover Rock?

Yes. Our technicians work in Rock, within the South East and London area we cover.

Why does a grease trap need regular cleaning?

Grease escapes into the drains when the trap is full. It sets there and narrows the pipes and causes blockages. Keeping the trap clean stops that happening.

How long does a grease trap clean take?

A typical clean takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap including checking it drains. It’s booked when the sinks aren’t needed.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.

What types of premises do you cover?

Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.

Common problems we fix in Rock

Waste cooking oil poured down the sink overloads the trap fast. Even small amounts add up.

What we’re most often called out for:

  • A blocked kitchen drain caused by grease
  • A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap
  • A grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time
  • Sinks that drain slowly

Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like St Mary's CofE Primary School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned.

What to look for in a quote

  • Proof of insurance
  • How they set the interval to the next visit
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
