What affects the quote in Rock

You will get a fixed price before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • How easy every part is to reach
  • The number of sites or systems
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before work begins.

What we need to know

Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Useful things to send:

  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see

Want a quote for ventilation duct cleaning? Please ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We’ll talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

How we handle ventilation duct cleaning in Rock

We cover Rock and the rest of West Sussex for ventilation duct cleaning, from offices and schools to hospitals, care homes and shops. Each building gets a survey first and a fixed quote. If you have odours carried round the building by the ducts and ventilation that needs a TR19® Air inspection, we can help.

Somewhere as small as Rock, ducted ventilation is usually limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.

Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers all look at records. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What happens on the day

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes a shift or two for a small system, longer for a whole building. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Rock before we set off.

  1. We start by looking at the layout of the ductwork and how it can be reached.
  2. We inspect inside the ductwork at set points and photograph it.
  3. We protect the rooms beneath and switch the system off.
  4. We clean the ductwork, grilles and diffusers through access panels.
  5. We issue a TR19® certificate and a photo report listing what was cleaned.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Common problems we fix in Rock

Why does it matter?: dirt in the ducts can come back out of the grilles, slow the air and add strain on fans. In hospitals, care homes and schools, clean air is especially important.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Systems missing access panels
  • Systems with no record of inspection or cleaning
  • Odours carried round the building by the ducts
  • Dirty diffusers dropping dust into rooms

Around Rock, as anywhere, ventilation cleaning begins with an inspection.

Common questions in Rock

Will you come out to Rock?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Rock included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Do you clean school ventilation in Rock in the holidays?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. With about 2 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Rock, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Just call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

Will we have to shut during the visit?

Not usually. Booking the work out of hours means the site can carry on as normal. Bigger sites can be done in stages to keep things running.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that cannot wait. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.

Is a quote from pictures possible?

Yes, for many jobs. Send a few wide pictures plus close-ups of panels, filters or grilles, and a fixed quote normally follows within one working day. Some sites still need a visit, and we’ll say so.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. That’s generally the employer or the person in control of the premises, and where several people have control, each can have duties. If you’re not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.

What happens if parts of the ductwork can’t be reached?

Nothing is hidden: any section we couldn’t get into is listed. We can install panels to open those sections up.

Why deal with it now?

Smells, dust around grilles and stuffy rooms are signs the system needs attention. Dealing with them now stops them getting worse. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Rock rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

Keeping the system healthy

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Log every filter change
  • Protect the system from construction dust
  • Store cleaning certificates where auditors can find them
  • Report dust blowing from grilles straight away

Share the report with whoever looks after the building’s maintenance, so it’s all in one place. Over time, it shows how quickly the system gets dirty.

Don’t let construction dust into the ventilation by turning it off or covering the openings.
