What staff can safely do

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

How we handle grease trap cleaning in Egypt

Every trap is different. Under-sink units are small and fill quickly, while inline traps and interceptors hold more. We look at the trap, how much the kitchen uses it and how quickly it fills before suggesting how often it needs cleaning. If you’re dealing with an under-sink trap that keeps filling up and a bad smell from the sinks or drains, we can put it right, from inline grease traps, school and care home kitchens and kitchen waste pipes onwards.

In a village or hamlet like Egypt, commercial kitchens are few, perhaps a pub, a school or a care home. Each still needs the occasional deep clean and its grease trap kept clear.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

FAQs for Egypt

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Egypt?

In Egypt, it’s Winchester City council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.

Can you get to a site in Egypt?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

What types of premises do you cover?

Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a small pub to a hospital. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.

Will you tell us when the next visit is due?

Yes. The interval depends on how much the system is used and what we find and the report sets out why.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with photos where possible, and we explain what access is needed, such as extra access panels in ductwork.

What does TR19 mean?

It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping and expects a risk-based approach.

What problems does a full grease trap cause?

Once it’s full, grease passes straight through. The grease hardens in the pipes, leading to blocked drains and smells, and can add to fatbergs in the sewer.

Which records should we keep?

Each report and certificate we give you, filed in the maintenance log with your in-house cleaning records. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.

How it works

Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Somewhere as small as Egypt, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. First, we locate the grease trap and look at the pipework around it.
  2. Nothing drains into the trap while it’s open.
  3. We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
  4. Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
  5. Once it’s refitted, water is run through to check it drains, and we take the waste with us.

How to prepare

  • Find the previous report, if there is one

Egypt kitchens: local notes

The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 3 hotels and B&Bs in and around Egypt, up to about a mile and a half out. Any of them serving food has a kitchen that collects grease out of sight and drains that need protecting. Kitchens in Egypt get their food hygiene inspections from Winchester City council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. A record of each deep clean helps show the kitchen is kept in order.

Around Egypt, deep cleans are booked when the kitchen is closed.

How the job changes from site to site

School, care home and staff kitchens

In schools, grease traps can be cleaned when the kitchen is closed or after lunch service.

Baffles and outlets

Clean water leaves through the outlet. If it’s blocked or greasy, the trap backs up.

Leave it or put it right?

Some kitchens try to fix slow drains with hot water or drain cleaners. That only moves the grease further down the pipe, where it sets again. The lasting fix starts with the trap. It’s simpler to plan the work at Egypt now than to arrange it in a hurry later.

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

Common problems we fix in Egypt

Oil tipped down the drain instead of being collected fills a grease trap far faster than washing-up. Even small amounts add up.

Clients usually contact us when they notice something like this:

  • An under-sink unit that needs regular emptying
  • Drains clogged with fat
  • A bad smell from the sinks or drains
  • Sinks that drain slowly

If you look after a hall kitchen near Ebenezer Methodist Chapel or anywhere in Egypt, a deep clean between busy seasons is easier than a scramble before a big event.

Before you book anyone

  • How areas they cannot reach will be recorded
  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • What insurance they carry
  • Exactly which parts of the system are covered

Between visits

Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Get food waste into the bin, not the sink
  • Avoid pouring boiling water down to shift grease
  • Tell us if your menu or hours change
  • Don’t store things on top of the trap

Anything we notice beyond the trap, like a slow drain downstream, is pointed out. It may need a drainage specialist to look further.

An overfull trap lets grease pass. Cleaning it before it’s full keeps grease out of the drains and saves a call-out for a blocked drain.

Fixed quotes for grease trap cleaning in Egypt

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • The times the site is available
  • Travel, parking and unloading

Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

What to send for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels

Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Call or email with a few details and you will usually have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.
