Grease trap cleaning in Eden Park

A grease trap is the kitchen drain’s first line of protection. Kept clean, it does its job quietly but left too long, it causes trouble. A regular clean keeps it healthy. We are often asked to deal with a regular cleaning plan for the grease trap and a larger grease trap that needs emptying, on kitchen waste pipes, inline grease traps and pot wash sinks.

Across London, many commercial kitchens are compact and run long hours, and grease builds up behind and under equipment, on walls and ceilings, and in the drains. In Eden Park, deep cleans and grease trap work are typically done overnight.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Eden Park: your questions answered

Can you work in school kitchens in Eden Park during the holidays?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. With about 6 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Eden Park, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

Which council inspects kitchens in Eden Park?

The local authority for Eden Park is Bromley council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the council’s risk rating for it, so the kitchen needs to be ready at any time.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.

What accreditations do you have?

BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We are fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

What does TR19 mean?

A BESA specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

Do we need to stop using the sinks while you work?

For the length of the clean, yes. It takes an hour or two in most kitchens, depending on the size and condition of the trap, and we time it to suit you.

What types of premises do you cover?

Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. We fit London jobs around the building rather than the other way round, so a visit in Eden Park is usually out of hours.

  1. First, we find the trap and look at its connections.
  2. We make sure nothing drains into the trap.
  3. Grease and solids are removed from the trap.
  4. We clean every part of the inside.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

Getting ready for the visit

Eden Park kitchens: local notes

The Food Standards Agency lists about 12 pubs, bars and clubs as registered food businesses within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Eden Park. Pub and hotel kitchens get the same build-up behind equipment and in the grease trap as any other. Food hygiene inspections in Eden Park are the job of Bromley council’s environmental health team. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time. In London, deep cleans and grease trap work are normally done overnight, so the kitchen opens as normal the next day.

National Psychosis Unit, about 0.6 miles south-west, is the nearest hospital to Eden Park; healthcare kitchens cannot stop cooking, so deep cleans are worked around meal times. If you run a café or takeaway near Eden Park station, a deep clean overnight means the kitchen opens as normal next morning.

Different parts, different methods

Grease interceptors

An interceptor works on the same principle as a smaller trap. Grease floats and solids sink.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

We time visits to avoid service so the kitchen isn’t disrupted.

What staff can safely do

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

What a clean will not put right

Not every problem is solved by grease trap cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It does not solve:

  • Broken pipework below ground
  • A unit that can’t cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Sewer problems outside the premises

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What the work covers

  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Inline grease traps
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Pot wash sinks

Why it’s worth doing now in Eden Park

A smelly, overflowing trap attracts pests. A clean trap is less of an attraction, alongside good kitchen hygiene. It’s better booked as a planned job in Eden Park than handled as an emergency.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re unsure, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Why Eden Park businesses choose us

  • Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line
  • Photo reports with every job
  • In business since 2009
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

When to call us in Eden Park

If a trap is not emptied, grease passes straight through. It goes on into the drain and on towards the sewer, where it can form blockages.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A small trap that fills too quickly
  • Foul odours from the grease trap
  • Sinks that drain slowly
  • A blocked kitchen drain caused by grease

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Langley Park School for Boys or anywhere near Eden Park, the holidays are the time for a deep clean or a grease trap clean.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
  • When the next visit should be, and why
  • Whether VAT is included
