The Haven grease filter exchange
Grease filter exchange for The Haven and the surrounding area: a survey, a fixed price, careful work and proper paperwork. Call for a fixed quote.
- Filters that come out of the sink still dirty
- Grease filters clogged with grease
- Filters left unwashed on busy weeks
Signs you need grease filter exchange in The Haven
What a kitchen cooks affects how fast filters clog. Fryers, grills and woks load filters faster than ovens and steamers, so the right exchange interval varies.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- Grease filters clogged with grease
- Filter washing that keeps being missed
- Damaged filters letting grease past
- Grease building up behind the canopy filters
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Horsham Hospital (about 5.3 miles east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.

How we handle grease filter exchange in The Haven
Good filters only work when they fit properly. Gaps in the filter bank are a direct route into the plenum, so we check every one at each visit. Damaged filters are flagged so they can be replaced. The work covers school and hospital kitchens, island canopies and mesh filters, and common reasons people get in touch are weak extraction at the canopy and grease left in baffles after washing.
In a small place like The Haven, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
The report is your system’s health record: dated, with pictures, and showing what was done. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

Why it’s worth doing now in The Haven
In The Haven, as everywhere, a filter service is not a substitute for TR19 cleaning. But clean filters do help the system between cleans, and that shows when the next clean comes round. A fault that closes a site in a village like The Haven affects everyone who depends on it.
Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you will get one fixed quote.
Why us?
- Ventilation hygiene specialists since 2009
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line
- Survey first, then a fixed quote
FAQs for The Haven
Which fire authority looks after The Haven?
It’s West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, which covers The Haven. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Can you come to The Haven after we close?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in The Haven can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.
Are you accredited?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and we’ll quote them together.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
No. The law sets the duty, and TR19® is the recognised benchmark for meeting it. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person has to manage fire risk, and without records, many insurers may refuse or reduce a claim.
Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it’s the responsible person: often the employer, owner or occupier. Landlords, facilities managers and managing agents can also hold responsibility.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we have been trading since 2009.
Will we have to shut during the visit?
Not typically. We need the work area to ourselves while we are on site, so we book a time when it would be closed anyway.
What affects the quote in The Haven
There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The condition of the system
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before work begins.
How the job changes from site to site
Baffle filters
Baffle filters are robust and widely used in commercial canopies. They still need regular cleaning, because the grease they collect builds up.
Busy restaurant and pub kitchens
Kitchens that fry and grill all day load their filters fast. Their exchange schedule is typically the tightest.
How the visit works
Everything the job needs comes with us, including protection sheets, the right tools and access kit. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. On site, the work takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in The Haven before we set off.
- First, we record the size, type and number of filters in each canopy.
- Together we set how often the filters should be changed.
- On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
- Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
- If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.
How to prepare
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Grease, kitchens and The Haven
The Haven is about 34 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. In The Haven, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Horsham council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
For kitchens in and around The Haven, the clean covers everything from the canopy to the discharge.
The Haven is about 3 miles north of Billingshurst, in West Sussex. What your team can do, and what needs us
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
For landlords and multi-site operators
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in The Haven and across West Sussex. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
