Fixed quotes for grease filter exchange in Surrey Canal
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- Travel, parking and unloading
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Any permits to work or inductions
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.
Asking for a quote
Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
Grease filter exchange for kitchens and businesses in Surrey Canal
We set up grease filter exchange for kitchens in Surrey Canal on a schedule that suits their cooking. Busy kitchens need changes more often while a lighter kitchen can go longer. The interval is agreed before the first visit. We are often asked to deal with poor airflow through the filters and drips falling from the filters onto equipment, across mesh filters, wall canopies and island canopies.
In London, few kitchens can spare a day to close, so extract cleaning in Surrey Canal is normally done overnight, after the last service. Parking, loading and access to the roof are agreed with the building before the night of the clean.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Surrey Canal kitchens: local notes
Look up Surrey Canal on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you will find about 452 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 311 takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Surrey Canal. Where they cook under a canopy, the grease filters are the first line of defence and clog quickly. Night work suits London kitchens, and roads and loading bays tend to be quieter too. Surrey Canal sits within the area of London Fire Brigade. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.
A kitchen near South Bermondsey station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like New Cross Hospital about 0.5 miles south, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Ilderton Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.
Surrey Canal is about 1 mile north-west of New Cross, in Greater London. Across the SE16 area, we can take on grease filter exchange. Our area takes in 764 places across Greater London, large and small.
All of SE16, SE15 and SE14 is covered for grease filter exchange, from busy streets to back roads. We cover sites on Pump Lane, Bush Road and Water Lane and nearby roads. Surrey Canal is on the A200 and A2208, which makes it straightforward for our technicians to reach for out-of-hours visits. If your site is just outside Surrey Canal, we cover South Bermondsey (1 mile west), Surrey Quays (1 mile north-east), Rotherhithe (1 mile north), Peckham (1 mile south-west) and Deptford (1 mile south-east). Further out, we also cover City of Westminster (5 miles north-west), Marylebone (5 miles north-west), Kensington (7 miles west), St Pancras (4 miles north-west), Shoreditch (3 miles north-west) and Walthamstow (7 miles north).
Landmarks near Surrey Canal
We work in commercial kitchens and buildings around City of London Academy, Deptford Park and The Surrey Docks pub. There’s a railway station in Surrey Canal itself: South Bermondsey station. A little further out are New Cross Hospital (0.5 miles south) and Surrey Quays Shopping Centre (0.7 miles north). For a walk, there’s New Cross Gate Cutting and Tower Hill.
Why it’s worth doing now in Surrey Canal
Clogged filters choke the extract. The kitchen gets hotter and smokier while the fan strains. A regular exchange keeps the airflow where it should be. In Surrey Canal, as across London, ductwork often passes through shared risers and other people’s space.
No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

Surrey Canal questions
Can you come to Surrey Canal after we close?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The site is handed back ready to open. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.
How do you handle parking and loading in Surrey Canal?
Parking and loading in London need planning, so tell us about bays, permits and building rules when you book. Night visits tend to make loading easier on London streets.
What accreditations do you have?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
Is Surrey Canal in your area?
Yes. Surrey Canal is part of the area we cover, as part of our area across London and the South East.
Do I get a report after the visit?
Yes. It’s your proof that the work was done: a dated report with photos, listing the work and any areas we couldn’t reach.
How much notice do you need?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
What’s the right interval for changing filters?
It depends on how much and what the kitchen cooks. Heavy cooking means more frequent changes than kitchens that cook less. We set a schedule that suits your kitchen.
Which sectors do you work in?
Commercial premises of every kind: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.
Looking after it afterwards
Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Make sure we can reach the canopy on exchange day
- Book full TR19 cleans alongside filter changes
- Do not refit a filter that’s bent
- Clean the canopy surfaces regularly
There’s no waiting: the canopy is ready as soon as the clean set is fitted. We take the greasy filters with us for cleaning.
Filters that are left too long stop protecting the system. A regular cycle keeps the rest of the system cleaner between full cleans.
What grease filter exchange cannot fix
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- A canopy that needs a proper clean
- Smell complaints that need odour control equipment
- Grease deep in the extract system
Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Where we work
- Restaurants and pubs
- Island canopies
- Mesh filters
- School and hospital kitchens
- Wall canopies
- Baffle filters
What the work involves, part by part
Mesh filters
Mesh filters are still found in many canopies. We exchange them on the same basis as baffles.
Busy restaurant and pub kitchens
High-output kitchens clog filters quickly. They often need the shortest exchange interval.
How it works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes well under an hour for most canopies. Before any visit in Surrey Canal, we agree where the van can stop and how equipment reaches the system.
- We start by noting how many filters you have and what type they are.
- A change schedule is agreed to match the kitchen’s cooking hours.
- On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
- Clean filters go straight back in, seated properly with no gaps.
- If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Find the previous report, if there is one
