West Sussex · Grease filter exchange
Grease filter exchange in River, West Sussex
Grease filter exchange for River, from a team that has been trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
- Drips falling from the filters onto equipment
- Filters that leave gaps in the canopy
How we handle grease filter exchange in River
Cleaning filters by hand takes staff time and is easy to put off. An exchange service means clean filters arrive and greasy ones leave and the canopy is refilled right away. We are often asked to deal with staff short of time to wash filters and weak extraction at the canopy, on school and hospital kitchens, restaurants and pubs and baffle filters.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.
We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

What happens on the day
A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, isolate whatever needs isolating, carry out the grease filter exchange, clear away and leave you the report. The visit itself takes a few minutes per canopy, longer for a large kitchen with several canopies. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near River, let us know and we’ll plan around it.
- We count and measure the filters in every canopy.
- A change schedule is agreed to match the kitchen’s cooking hours.
- Each visit starts with the used filters being removed.
- Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
- If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.
Before we arrive
- Clear the space around the work
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Advice
Fixed quotes for grease filter exchange in River
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:
- The times the site is available
- Travel, parking and unloading
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
The cost depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.
Helping us quote
Many jobs can be priced from photos and some basics. Useful things to send:
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- A few general shots of the system
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
Common problems we fix in River
Missing filters are more common than you’d think. A missing filter leaves an open route into the system and on into the ductwork.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- Filter washing that keeps being missed
- A canopy that drips grease
- Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
- Filters that come out of the sink still dirty
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near The Parish Church of St Peter or elsewhere in River, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.
What your quote should include
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Proof of insurance
- Whether the figure could change on the day
How the job changes from site to site
School, care home and staff kitchens
A longer exchange interval may suit lighter cooking. We agree the schedule to match.
The plenum
With good filters, less grease ends up in the plenum, but it’s still cleaned during a full TR19 clean.
Keeping the system healthy
How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Tell us if the menu or opening hours change
- Make sure we can reach the canopy on exchange day
- Tell us if a filter is bent or damaged
- Watch for grease drips between visits
Fresh filters improve airflow at the canopy from the moment they’re fitted. Always run the extract during cooking so the filters do their job.
If cooking has stepped up, the filter schedule should too. Adjusting the schedule now prevents a build-up in the ducts.

River questions
Do you cover smaller places like River?
Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and River is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Which environmental health team covers River?
Kitchens in River are inspected by Chichester council’s environmental health officers. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
Will we have to stop cooking for a filter change?
Most changes take less than an hour in most kitchens, so the impact is small. We will fit it around your service wherever we can.
Are you accredited?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We carry full insurance, and we’ve been trading since 2009.
Where does the waste go?
It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained to keep the area clean.
What if some of our filters are damaged?
We check every filter at each visit. We tell you about any that are damaged, because gaps let grease into the plenum.
What’s the right interval for changing filters?
It varies with the type and amount of cooking. If filters are dripping or clogging before the next change, it’s too long, and we can change it.
