Grease filter exchange in Hounslow

Baffle filters and mesh filters both fill with grease. Clogged filters choke the airflow and the fan has to work harder. A steady cycle of clean filters keeps extraction strong. Typical jobs include a canopy running with filters missing and hand-washed filters that still look greasy, on mesh filters, school and hospital kitchens and island canopies.

London kitchens tend to trade late and open early, so work in Hounslow is normally booked for the night or the early hours. Before the clean, we agree loading, parking and roof access with whoever manages the building.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Hounslow

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Hounslow and across Greater London. Work can be phased by floor, building or site around the people who use them.

The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

What staff can safely do

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

What the work involves, part by part

Canopy filter housings

Every exchange includes a check of how the filters sit since a gap is a route for grease.

Mesh filters

Grease lodges deep in the layers of a mesh filter, so a quick rinse rarely gets it clean.

How it works

Each visit runs to the same pattern: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, do the work, tidy up and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. Most London sites can’t stop for the day, so work in Hounslow is normally done overnight, early in the morning or at weekends.

  1. We start by noting how many filters you have and what type they are.
  2. Together we set how often the filters should be changed.
  3. Each visit starts with the used filters being removed.
  4. Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
  5. If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Move anything stored near the system

Advice

Hounslow questions

Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Hounslow?

Fire safety enforcement in Hounslow is handled by London Fire Brigade. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Can the work in Hounslow be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. That way a site in Hounslow doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.

How long will you be on site?

It depends on the size of the system, but for many sites it takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. We will give you a better idea when we quote.

Where do the greasy filters go?

The greasy set leaves with us for cleaning and your staff don’t have to deal with them. Clean filters go straight in.

Can you give a price for filter changes?

The cost depends on your filters and the schedule. We’ll send you a fixed quote once we know your canopies.

Do we need to close while you work?

Not normally. We work when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends, so you keep your normal hours.

Which grease filters does the service cover?

Baffle filters and mesh filters. Tell us what you have when you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll confirm it on site.

Grease, kitchens and Hounslow

The FSA’s data shows about 45 bars, pubs and nightclubs and about 13 hotels and B&Bs registered within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Hounslow. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. London Fire Brigade covers Hounslow. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel. London jobs normally start after the last service, with loading and roof access agreed with the building first.

Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Mary the Virgin or anywhere around Hounslow, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. If you cook for passing trade around Hounslow station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as South Middlesex Hospital (about 0.9 miles south-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.

When something else is needed

Grease filter exchange cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It doesn’t solve:

  • Grease already built up in the ductwork, which needs a full TR19 clean
  • A fan that is failing or too weak for the system
  • Odours from the discharge that filters won’t stop

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Island canopies
  • Wall canopies
  • Baffle filters
  • Mesh filters
  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Restaurants and pubs

Keeping the system healthy

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • Wipe the outside of the canopy as part of daily cleaning
  • Keep the canopy clear for exchange visits
  • Don’t let the full clean slip because filters are changed
  • Never leave gaps in the filter bank

Nothing changes for your staff, except one less greasy job. Make sure we can reach the canopy on exchange day and tell us if service times change.

Dripping filters are a clear sign they’re full. Changing them now reduces the fuel above the cooking, and it’s worth checking the plenum too.

Leave it or put it right?

In Hounslow, as everywhere, a filter service is not a substitute for TR19 cleaning. They do help keep the system in better shape between cleans and the canopy and plenum stay cleaner. Shared walls, risers and roofs mean a problem at one London site seldom stays put.

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.
