Managing agents and facilities teams in Grange
From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Grange and across Medway. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.
How we handle grease filter exchange in Grange
Whether your canopy has baffle or mesh filters, they load up with grease. Clogged filters choke the airflow and the extract struggles. A steady cycle of clean filters keeps extraction strong. Common call-outs are for a canopy running with filters missing and filters that come out of the sink still dirty, on island canopies, baffle filters and mesh filters.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Part by part
Mesh filters
Layers of mesh catch grease droplets. They clog quickly in a busy kitchen, so they need changing often.
Canopy filter housings
Every exchange includes a check of how the filters sit since a gap is a route for grease.
What we are called out for in Grange
Repeated removal and washing takes its toll on filters. Damaged filters don’t sit flush and grease passes round them.
Clients typically contact us when they notice one of these:
- Smoke and heat lingering under the hood
- Grease building up behind the canopy filters
- Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
- Bent or damaged filters that do not sit properly
Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Mary Magdalen, or anywhere in Grange, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Before you book anyone
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether a written report and pictures are included
- Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
- How areas they can’t reach will be recorded

Kitchen extracts in Grange
Sea air reaches Grange, which sits within about 1 mile of the coast. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. Food Standards Agency records include about 15 pubs and bars within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Grange. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Environmental health officers from Medway council inspect food businesses in Grange. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Grange is Medway Maritime Hospital, about 1.8 miles west. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Restoration House is about 3.3 miles west), access may need planning.
Grange is about 1 mile north of Gillingham, in Medway. Across the ME7 area, we can carry out grease filter exchange at your premises. Across Medway, we cover 68 places, and Grange is one of them. You can also see our page for Maidstone, about 9 miles away.

Fixed quotes for grease filter exchange in Grange
The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- How easy every part is to reach
- The scale of the work
- The condition we find in the survey
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we will talk you through it.
What we need to know
What to send for a quote:
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
Want a quote for grease filter exchange? Please call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and tell us about the site. We’ll talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before anything is booked.
Leave it or put it right?
A filter exchange is a few minutes; a choked extract affects a whole service. Few maintenance jobs are as easy and few are as easy to forget. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.
Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.

Grange questions
Can school kitchens in Grange be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Food Standards Agency records list about 19 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Grange. You can call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with the dates the site is empty.
Can you get to a site in Grange?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Grange included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Which records should we keep?
Each report and certificate we give you, kept together in your maintenance log with your in-house cleaning records. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.
Do you deal with bent or broken filters?
A badly damaged filter should be replaced. We’ll tell you which ones and why when we find them.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.
Do I get a report after the visit?
Yes. It’s the record insurers and inspectors ask to see: a dated report with pictures, listing the work and any areas we couldn’t reach.
What does grease filter exchange cost?
We price it on the number of filters and the visit frequency. Send us details or photos and we’ll quote, usually within one working day.
Between visits
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Wipe the outside of the canopy as part of daily cleaning
- Keep filter exchange and TR19 cleaning on the same plan
- Mention it if the kitchen gets busier
- Watch for grease drips between visits
Between visits, check that every filter is still in place. Gaps let grease into the plenum, so let us know if one goes missing or gets damaged.
Clean filters plus regular full cleans keep the system in good health. A maintenance plan that covers both means neither slips.
How the visit works
Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes well under an hour for most canopies, and we clear up before we go. The timing of a visit to Grange is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- We look at the canopies and the condition of the filters.
- Any damaged or missing filters are noted.
- Greasy filters are swapped for clean ones.
- We check the filters are seated and the canopy is ready to use.
- We tell you if the plenum or canopy needs a clean.
How to prepare
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
Ask for a quote
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
