Grease filter exchange for sites in Cookham

Grease filter exchange in Cookham

Think of filter exchange as routine care for the extract. Between full cleans, it keeps the airflow healthy, and it saves your staff a greasy job. The full TR19 clean then gives the system its clean bill of health. If you’re dealing with hand-washed filters that still look greasy and weak extraction at the canopy, we can put it right.

In a smaller place like Cookham, the kitchens with extract systems are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen than a big restaurant. A kitchen that cooks fewer hours still builds up grease, so the interval is set by hours of use and grease readings.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Grease filter exchange in Cookham: the local picture

According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 13 pubs and bars within about 1.5 miles of central Cookham. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. It’s Windsor and Maidenhead council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Cookham. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready. Cookham is covered by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Cookham Rise Primary School or anywhere near Cookham, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St John the Baptist or elsewhere in Cookham, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. If you cook for passing trade around Cookham station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer.

Leave it or put it right?

Changing filters on schedule costs far less disruption than a blocked extract. It’s one of the simplest parts of looking after the system, and one of the easiest to let slip. A visit arranged in advance is far less disruptive than a callout on a busy day.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all play a part.

What you get with us

  • Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line
  • In business since 2009
  • Fixed quotes, usually within one working day
  • Fully insured

What staff can safely do

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Cookham questions

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Cookham in the summer holidays?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. Food Standards Agency records list about 8 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Cookham. Just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your term dates and we will plan around them.

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Cookham?

It’s Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Cookham. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.

Are you accredited?

BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’ve been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.

Will you tell us when the next visit is due?

Yes. The interval depends on how much the system is used and what we find, and we explain the reasoning on the report.

How regularly do grease filters need exchanging?

It varies from kitchen to kitchen. We look at your cooking and set an interval to match, and adjust it if needed.

How long does grease filter exchange take?

On site, it takes less than an hour in most kitchens. Bigger or more complicated systems take longer, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.

What’s TR19?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Windsor and Maidenhead. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

What the work involves, part by part

Busy restaurant and pub kitchens

Heavy cooking means more grease reaching every part of the system. Regular changes help protect the ductwork.

Mesh filters

Layers of mesh catch grease droplets. They clog quickly in a busy kitchen and need frequent attention.

When it’s something else

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • A canopy that needs a proper clean
  • An extract that was undersized from the start
  • Smell complaints that need odour control equipment

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What the work covers

  • Baffle filters
  • Island canopies
  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Restaurants and pubs
  • Mesh filters
  • Wall canopies

What we do, step by step

A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and leave you the report. The visit itself takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. Your opening hours decide when we come to Cookham, not ours.

  1. The filters in each canopy are measured and counted.
  2. We set the interval with you.
  3. On each visit, we remove the greasy filters.
  4. Clean filters go in and we check they sit snugly.
  5. The dirty filters leave with us and the next visit is booked.

Before we arrive

  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Let us know about parking and loading

Getting a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Related advice

Between visits

Once we have finished, these simple steps help:

  • Look out for drips from the canopy
  • Book full TR19 cleans alongside filter changes
  • Make sure no filter is left out
  • Let us know if your cooking hours increase

Your next visit is scheduled before we leave. If the kitchen gets busier, the interval can be shortened to keep up.

If cooking has stepped up, the filter schedule should too. Changing the interval early stops grease building up unseen behind the canopy.
