Grease filter exchange in South Ascot

How we handle grease filter exchange in South Ascot

A clean set of filters is a simple, regular dose of prevention. It keeps airflow up and grease down between full cleans, and it saves your staff a greasy job. Full TR19 cleaning still comes at the right interval, with a certificate. The work covers baffle filters, restaurants and pubs and island canopies, and the jobs we see most are missing filters in the filter bank and filters left unwashed on busy weeks.

Around a smaller place like South Ascot, kitchen extracts tend to belong to pubs, cafés, takeaways and school or care home kitchens. A kitchen that cooks fewer hours still builds up grease, so cleaning is planned around how much it cooks and what the readings show.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

South Ascot questions

Which council inspects kitchens in South Ascot?

Food hygiene inspections in South Ascot are carried out by Windsor and Maidenhead council. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.

Will you come out to South Ascot?

Yes, South Ascot is part of our area, however small the site. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

We start with protection: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.

Will you tell us when the next visit is due?

Yes. How often depends on use and condition, and we explain the reasoning on the report.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Photos often do the job, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.

What accreditations do you have?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We have been trading since 2009 and we’re fully insured.

Do you handle baffle and mesh filters?

We exchange baffle and mesh filters. We record the sizes and number of filters at the start so every set we bring fits.

How the job changes from site to site

Canopy filter housings

Grease collects in the channels and drip trays below the filters. If it needs attention, we’ll tell you.

Baffle filters

When baffles fill with grease, less air gets through. Swapping them for a clean set restores it.

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. Tell us when your site near South Ascot is quiet and the visit will be booked for then.

  1. We record the number, size and type of your filters.
  2. We set the interval with you.
  3. On each visit, we remove the greasy filters.
  4. Clean filters go in and we check they sit snugly.
  5. The dirty filters leave with us and the next visit is booked.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Clear loose items from the work area
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Kitchen extracts in South Ascot

The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 8 pubs, bars and clubs within about 1.5 miles of central South Ascot. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. South Ascot is covered by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. It’s Windsor and Maidenhead council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in South Ascot. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Heatherwood Hospital (about 1 mile north-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as St Francis Catholic Primary School or anywhere near South Ascot, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If you run a café or takeaway near Ascot station, early starts and late finishes leave little time to clean, so overnight extract cleaning suits.

When something else is needed

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • Grease deep in the extract system
  • A noisy or failed extract fan
  • An extract that was undersized from the start

If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Wall canopies
  • Restaurants and pubs
  • Baffle filters
  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Mesh filters
  • Island canopies

What your team can do, and what needs us

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in South Ascot and across Windsor and Maidenhead. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.

Between visits

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Never leave gaps in the filter bank
  • Clear anything stored on or near the canopy
  • Watch for grease drips between visits
  • Keep the extract on whenever the range is in use

If the plenum behind the filters looks greasy, we say so. That might mean bringing a TR19® clean forward and we can book that in.

Filters that are left too long stop protecting the system. Getting onto a regular exchange now keeps grease out of the plenum and ductwork until the next TR19 clean.

Why act early in South Ascot

A filter exchange is a few minutes; a choked extract affects a whole service. It’s one of the simplest parts of looking after the system and few are as easy to forget. A visit arranged in advance is far less disruptive than a callout on a busy day.

You won’t find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.
