Extract fan repair and replacement in Nash Street, East Sussex
Extract fan repair for Nash Street, from a team that has been trading since 2009. Out-of-hours visits and 24/7 emergency callout.
- Weak extraction and a smoky kitchen
- Vibration spreading from the fan into the ducts
- A humming noise from the fan motor
Extract fan repair in Nash Street, done properly
Before anything is ordered, we diagnose. The motor, drive, impeller, bearings and mounts are all checked and the speed control too. After that, you get a fixed price for what’s needed. We are often asked to deal with a whining or grinding extract motor and an overheating extract motor, on kitchen extract fans, belts and pulleys and bearings.
In a village or hamlet like Nash Street, the kitchens with extract fans are few, wherever there are any. When one fails, the cooking stops, and our 24/7 emergency line covers rural addresses too.
The paperwork matters as much as the work. Each visit is written up with photos, covering the work done, any areas we couldn’t access and a recommended next date. Keep it with your fire safety records so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

Why act early in Nash Street
A fan that is running slowly isn’t clearing the kitchen properly. The kitchen becomes an uncomfortable place to work, and more grease settles where it shouldn’t. With notice, the visit to Nash Street can be fitted around your bookings and events.
You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.

What staff can safely do
Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
What we do, step by step
When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the photos you sent. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours on site, depending on the fault and the access to the fan. In a small place like Nash Street, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.
- First, you tell us the symptoms: noise, shaking, weak extraction or no power.
- Power to the fan is isolated before we open the housing.
- The impeller, bearings, belts or drive, motor and mounts are all inspected.
- You get our diagnosis and a fixed quote to repair or replace.
- We fix or replace the fan, then test it running before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

Impellers and housings
The fan housing collects grease too. Both are inspected, and cleaning can form part of the repair.
Fan controls
Speed controllers and isolators sit between the supply and the fan. A control fault can leave the fan dead or stuck at one speed.
When something else is needed
We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Grease build-up in the rest of the extract system
- Gas interlock faults that a Gas Safe registered engineer must deal with
- An extract system that was undersized from the start
If you are not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Multi-site and managed buildings
Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so each one has its own record.
Looking after it afterwards
Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Keep the area around the fan controls clear
- Keep the emergency number where staff can see it
- Never run the extract with filters missing
- Avoid lowering the speed to quieten a fault
Keep an ear on the fan after the repair. If anything changes, let us know, so it can be looked at before it grows.
When filters block, the fan works harder. Changing or cleaning them on time takes load off the motor and helps prevent overheating.
Your questions about extract fan repair in Nash Street
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Nash Street?
The local authority for Nash Street is Wealden council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Keeping the fan serviced is easier than explaining a broken one on inspection day.
Do you work in villages like Nash Street?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Nash Street included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Which records should we keep?
Everything that shows the system is looked after: our reports and pictures, any certificates and your in-house logs. A single log for each site works best.
Which accreditations do you hold?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.
How do you keep the site clean during the work?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
Will I get paperwork for my records?
Yes. It’s the record insurers and inspectors ask to see: a written, dated record with pictures of what we did and anything we couldn’t access.
What will a fan repair or replacement cost?
The cost depends on what’s wrong and how easy the fan is to reach. After diagnosing, you get a fixed quote before any work starts.
