Extract fan repair in Cote
Before anything is ordered, we diagnose. The motor, drive, impeller, bearings and mounts are all checked, along with the fan’s controls. After that, you get a fixed price for what’s needed. We’re often asked to deal with an extract fan that has stopped working and an old fan that needs replacing, across kitchen extract fans, belts and pulleys and fan motors.
A callout to a small place like Cote goes better when we know what we are looking at: a photo of the fan, the details on its label and the access arrangements help us plan.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What the work involves, part by part
Belt-driven fans
Belt drives have more moving parts than direct-drive fans. More parts to inspect, but many faults are straightforward to fix.
Motors and bearings
An overheating motor is a warning sign. It may be straining against blocked filters or ducts or the motor may be near the end of its life.
What we’re called out for in Cote
Some faults are in the controls rather than the fan. Speed controllers, isolators and wiring can all fail, and a fan that will not start is not always a dead motor.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- An extract that vibrates through the ductwork
- A belt-driven fan that squeals
- An old fan that needs replacing
- A knocking noise from the extract fan
If you look after a church or hall kitchen near St Symphorian's Church, or anywhere in Cote, test the extract fan before a big event rather than on the day.
What your quote should include
- Whether the figure could change on the day
- When they can work, and whether that is outside your opening hours
- Whether VAT is included
- Whether a written report and pictures are included
Extract fan repair in Cote: local notes
The coast is only about 3 miles from Cote. Motor mounts, bolts and housings on outdoor fans corrode faster close to the coast. Food Standards Agency data counts about 9 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 9 takeaways in and around Cote, up to about a mile and a half out. A kitchen with a dead extract fan gets hot and smoky fast, and kitchens like these feel it at once. Kitchens in Cote get their food hygiene inspections from Worthing council. Ventilation is part of food hygiene law, which expects it to be suitable and sufficient. A kitchen without a working fan has a problem to fix quickly.
If you manage a school such as Durrington Junior School and the kitchen fan is getting louder, the next break is the time to deal with it.
Cote is about 2 miles north-west of Worthing, in West Sussex. Wherever you are in the BN13 postcode area, we can take on extract fan repair. Our West Sussex coverage runs to 371 places, and Cote is one of them. There’s also a page for Brighton, roughly 13 miles from Cote.
Extract fan repair in BN13 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. If your site is just outside Cote, we cover Durrington (1 mile south-east), High Salvington (1 mile north-east), Clapham (1 mile west), Patching (2 miles west) and Findon (2 miles north). We also work in nearby towns such as Bognor Regis (12 miles west), Burgess Hill (15 miles north-east), Littlehampton (5 miles south-west), Shoreham-by-Sea (7 miles east), Lancing (4 miles east) and Rustington (4 miles south-west).
Local landmarks in Cote
In Cote, that means kitchens and buildings near Durrington High School, Clapham Wood and Palatine Primary School. For rail, the closest station is Durrington-On-Sea station, about 1.8 miles south. Well-known places in the area include The Acre (2.8 miles south-east) and Old Castle (1.7 miles south-east). Open spaces near Cote include Highdown Hill.
Why deal with it now?
In Cote, as elsewhere, an extract fan may well sit outside on a wall or roof, so its noise does not stay in the kitchen. Fixing the cause quietens it down before neighbours notice. In a place like Cote, ductwork and fans are easy to forget until something goes wrong.
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before we start.

Questions from Cote
Is there an emergency callout for extract fans in Cote?
We run a 24/7 emergency line for failed extract fans, and Cote is part of our area. Phone 0345 646 2711 and we will talk through the fault and access. A photo of the fan’s rating plate helps.
Can you get to a site in Cote?
Yes, Cote is part of our area, however small the site. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
What do you do with what you remove?
We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained to keep the area clean.
How much does an extract fan repair cost?
The cost depends on what’s wrong and how easy the fan is to reach. After diagnosing, you get a fixed quote so there are no surprises.
What accreditations do you have?
We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.
Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?
The Fire Safety Order 2005 calls them the responsible person: normally the employer or whoever controls the premises. Landlords, facilities managers and managing agents can also hold responsibility.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Everything that shows the system is looked after: our reports and pictures, any certificates and your in-house logs. One maintenance log per site keeps it simple.
Should the fan be cleaned as well as repaired?
Repairing the fan does not clean the canopy or ducts. Grease on the fan usually means grease in the ducts and we can plan the two together.
How we price extract fan repair
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- How big the system is
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
Every site is different, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all play a part.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:
- A few general shots of the system
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Problems your staff have spotted
- The site address and the type of premises
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
When something else is needed
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Problems with the gas supply or its interlock valve
- A greasy canopy and duct that a fan repair will not touch
- Ductwork designed too small for the kitchen’s cooking
If you are not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What happens on the day
Your staff don’t need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Cote before we set off.
- We start with the symptoms, such as rattling, humming, slow running or a fan that will not start.
- Power to the fan is isolated before we open the housing.
- Each part is checked in turn: motor, bearings, drive, impeller and fixings.
- You get our diagnosis and a fixed quote to repair or replace.
- We fix or replace the fan, then test it running before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote does not take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we usually reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
