How the job changes from site to site

Kitchens with long cooking hours

A fan in a long-hours kitchen runs for most of the day, so grease and wear build up together. Cleaning on time helps keep it running.

Fan housings and motors

We clean around the motor without soaking its electrics, and the fan is isolated throughout. Grease on and around the motor can trap heat, so we clean what we safely can.

Extract fan cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Holt End

If the ducts are the arteries, the fan is the heart. A greasy fan works harder and moves less air. We clean it, run it and note anything that needs a closer look so you get a clean bill of health. If you are dealing with a fan shaking on its mounts and a noisy fan that has got louder over time, we can put it right.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

How the visit works

The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a couple of hours per fan, depending on its size and the build-up, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Holt End, let us know and we will plan around it.

  1. We locate the fan and plan how to reach and isolate it.
  2. We isolate the power before opening the housing.
  3. Grease is scraped off the impeller blades and casing.
  4. Blades, housing and surrounds are degreased with care around the electrics.
  5. It’s closed up, run, checked and photographed for the report.

Multi-site and managed buildings

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Why deal with it now?

An unbalanced fan gets worse, not better. It can wear the bearings and lead to failure, which may leave the kitchen without extraction. Cleaning it early is far less disruptive. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

Why us?

  • CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
  • Fully insured
  • Each visit written up, with photos
  • Survey first, then a fixed quote

What extract fan cleaning can’t fix

We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work cannot put right:

  • Grease in the duct and canopy before the fan (those need a full TR19 clean)
  • A fan that was never right for the kitchen
  • A faulty speed controller or isolator

If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think.

What the work covers

  • Discharge points
  • Axial fans
  • Fan housings
  • In-line fans
  • Centrifugal fans
  • Roof-mounted fans

Holt End kitchens: local notes

Fire safety in Holt End falls to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Kitchens in Holt End get their food hygiene inspections from East Hampshire council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.

Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Bentworth Hall is about 0.3 miles east), access may need planning. School kitchens, at schools like St Mary's Bentworth Church of England Primary School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St. Mary's Church, or anywhere in Holt End, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Aftercare tips

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • Leave a clear route to the fan
  • Never cook with a filter missing
  • Notice when the fan starts to sound different
  • Note any drop in extraction at the canopy

You get before and after pictures of the impeller and housing. It notes what was done and anything that couldn’t be reached, along with the recommended next clean date.

A change in how the fan sounds is worth noting. New noise or vibration often means grease is building on the impeller and early action can save a repair.

Holt End questions

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Holt End?

In Holt End, it’s East Hampshire council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.

Is Holt End within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

Are you accredited?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We’ve been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.

Should the extract fan be cleaned as part of TR19?

Yes. TR19® Grease covers the whole system, fan included. We clean it alongside the canopy, ductwork and discharge.

Can you clean the fan on its own?

Yes, we can clean just the fan. That helps when the fan needs attention before the next full clean, but it does not replace a full TR19 clean.

Does the law say we must follow TR19?

No. The law sets the duty; TR19® is the benchmark used to show it’s met. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and many insurers can refuse or reduce a claim without proof of cleaning.

What makes a kitchen extract fan vibrate?

Uneven grease on the impeller often causes it. After cleaning, we’ll tell you if wear or damage is also involved.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

It depends on the building. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, facilities manager or managing agent.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
