Fulham: your questions answered
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Fulham?
Fulham is in the area of London Fire Brigade. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Can you come to Fulham after we close?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The work in Fulham can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you are closed and we will book within them.
What accreditations do you have?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.
What should I send you?
Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. Then give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
What if parts of the system can’t be reached?
Anything we can’t reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.
Why has my extract fan got louder?
Grease on the blades and housing is one of the usual causes, since uneven grease makes it run out of balance. Worn bearings and motor problems are others, which our report will flag.
What do you do with what you remove?
We take it away at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained to keep the area clean.
What if the fan needs more than a clean?
A fan that needs repair is noted on the report, with what we found. We offer extract fan repair and replacement, and there’s a 24/7 emergency callout for breakdowns.
Extract fan cleaning in Fulham, done properly
Is the extract fan louder than it used to be, or the airflow weaker? A few details or a photo help when you call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and you’ll get a fixed price, typically within one working day. The work covers axial fans, discharge points and in-line fans, and the jobs we see most are rough running from the extract fan and burning smells from the fan area.
Across London, many commercial kitchens are squeezed into basements and narrow back-of-house spaces, with extract ducts that can climb several floors to discharge at roof level. For a kitchen in Fulham, that typically means a longer system to clean and more access panels to plan around.
We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What the work involves, part by part
Roof-mounted fans
Roof fans also discharge grease onto the roof around them and we check the area around the outlet. Heavy staining is noted on the report.
Wall fans
Wall fans often have a short duct, so grease reaches them quickly. They can need regular attention, which grease readings will show.
Between visits
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Make sure the fan is included each time
- Don’t turn the fan off mid-service
- Listen for new noises or vibration from the fan
- Do not store items in front of the fan’s access point
When the fan is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If only the fan is cleaned, the photo report says so.
The fan stays cleaner when less grease gets past the canopy. Clean, well-seated filters are the fan’s first protection, and replace any that are damaged.
What a clean will not put right
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- An impeller that’s bent or split
- An undersized fan that can’t cope
- Grease in the duct and canopy before the fan (those need a full TR19 clean)
If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will say what we think.

For landlords and multi-site operators
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
How it works
There’s very little for your team to do on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Many London buildings have a managing agent, a security desk or a permit-to-work system, so tell us who to contact in Fulham.
- We start by checking where the fan sits and how to isolate it.
- Power to the fan is isolated before anyone touches it.
- Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
- We degrease the fan and housing, taking care around the motor.
- It’s closed up, run and checked, and photos go into your report.
How to prepare
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
Ask for a quote
We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
Advice
Fulham kitchens: local notes
The FSA’s data shows about 130 pubs, bars and clubs and about 51 hotels and guest houses registered across Fulham and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. London jobs typically start after the last service, with loading and roof access agreed with the building first. In Fulham, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Hammersmith and Fulham council. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Western Hospital (about 0.7 miles north-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St. Peter's Church, or anywhere in Fulham, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as St Johns Walham Green Church of England Primary School or anywhere near Fulham, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.
