Egham extract fan cleaning
For extract fan cleaning in Egham, one call is all it takes, from survey to sign-off. CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, ISO 9001 and fully insured.
- A fan that no longer moves enough air
- A fan that hums, whines or rumbles
- Vibration from an unbalanced impeller
For landlords and multi-site operators
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Extract fan cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Egham
We have been trading since 2009. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and full insurance. If you have fat spreading onto the roof or wall by the fan and hot, greasy smells near the fan, we can help, from in-line fans, centrifugal fans and fan housings onwards.
Many kitchens in a town like Egham were fitted into buildings built for something else, which can mean awkward duct routes, long flat runs and not enough access panels. Where the duct can’t be reached, new panels can be fitted, and anything left uncleaned is recorded on the report.
A written report with photos follows every visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What a clean will not put right
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what extract fan cleaning will not do:
- Grease in the canopy and ductwork
- A motor that has burnt out
- A faulty speed controller or isolator
If you’re not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.
Parts of the system we cover
- In-line fans
- Axial fans
- Discharge points
- Fan housings
- Roof-mounted fans
- Centrifugal fans
What happens on the day
We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the work takes a few hours where there are several fans or heavy deposits. Work in Egham is typically booked after closing, early in the morning or on a closed day.
- The fan is found and its type, access and isolation checked.
- We isolate the power before opening the housing.
- Grease is scraped off the impeller blades and casing.
- Blades, housing and surrounds are degreased with care around the electrics.
- It’s closed up, run, checked and photographed for the report.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Clear loose items from the work area
Ask for a quote
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
Advice
Looking after it afterwards
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Notice when the fan starts to sound different
- Leave a clear route to the fan
- Tell us if the extract feels weaker
- Run the extract throughout cooking
Where the fan needs repair rather than cleaning, the report says so. We also repair and replace extract fans, so you have one point of contact.
Do not run the kitchen with the extract off. Air that keeps moving carries vapour out rather than letting it settle, so keeping it running helps keep it clean.
How we price extract fan cleaning
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- How big the system is
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.
Helping us quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
Need a price for extract fan cleaning? Please give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and tell us about the site. We’ll talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before anything is booked.
What the work involves, part by part
Kitchens with long cooking hours
When a busy kitchen’s fan fails, cooking stops. A clean fan is less likely to strain, and our 24/7 emergency callout is there if it happens anyway.
Inline duct fans
Inline fans can be in tight spaces, so we plan how to reach and clean them. Anything out of reach is recorded.
Your questions about extract fan cleaning in Egham
Can the work in Egham be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Can you clean school kitchen extracts in Egham during the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Food Standards Agency records list about 15 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Egham. Send us your term dates when you phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we’ll fit the work in.
What do you do with what you remove?
We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained to keep the area clean.
How often does the fan need cleaning?
At least as often as the rest of the extract, which BESA guidance sets by daily cooking hours: every 3, 6 or 12 months. Some fans need attention sooner.
What should I send you?
Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, along with a few pictures and any previous report.
What if parts of the system cannot be reached?
We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we are fully insured. We also hold CHAS and SafeContractor for clients who vet their contractors.
Why is my extract fan noisy?
An unbalanced impeller, usually from uneven grease, is a common cause. After cleaning, we will tell you if wear or damage is also involved.
Egham kitchens: local notes
The Food Standards Agency lists about 18 bars, pubs and nightclubs and about 6 hotels and guest houses as registered food businesses across Egham and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. Kitchens in Egham get their food hygiene inspections from Runnymede council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. Fire safety in Egham falls to Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.
For schools such as Manorcroft Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Commuter trade near Egham station can mean long cooking hours, and long hours put a kitchen into BESA’s more frequent cleaning bands.

What else we do in Egham
Do you need extract fan cleaning in Egham?
A fan collects more grease when the filters let more through. Missing, damaged or badly fitted filters let grease travel the whole system, so the fan takes far more than it should.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- A motor area thick with grease
- An extract fan with no cleaning record
- A smell of hot grease from the extract
- A fan that hums, whines or rumbles
Where a hall near St John's Church, or anywhere in Egham, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.
Questions to ask before booking
