Extract fan cleaning for sites in Brasted Chart

Signs you need extract fan cleaning in Brasted Chart

A fan collects more grease when the filters let more through. When filters don’t seal, grease goes straight through to the fan, so the fan takes far more than it should.

Keep an eye out for these warning signs:

  • A noisy fan that has got louder over time
  • Less air being pulled from the kitchen
  • Hot, greasy smells near the fan
  • A heavily greased fan housing

Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Brasted Chart is Tandridge Priory, about 3.3 miles west.

How we handle extract fan cleaning in Brasted Chart

We’ve been trading since 2009. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. If you have thick grease on the impeller and casing and a fan that has never been cleaned, we can help, from axial fans, roof-mounted fans and in-line fans onwards.

In a London area like Brasted Chart, a kitchen extract often passes through shared space on its way out: a riser, a service void, the floors above. A duct fire there can reach parts of the building far from the range, which is why keeping it clean to TR19® matters.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes a couple of hours per fan, depending on its size and the build-up. Most London sites can’t stop for the day, so work in Brasted Chart is usually done overnight, early in the morning or at weekends.

  1. We find the fan and check how it’s reached and how it’s isolated.
  2. With the fan isolated, the housing is opened.
  3. We remove the grease from the blades, impeller and casing.
  4. We degrease the fan and housing, taking care around the motor.
  5. It’s closed up, run and checked, and pictures go into your report.

Why act early in Brasted Chart

Vibration from an unbalanced impeller doesn’t stay small. It can wear the bearings and lead to failure, which may leave the kitchen without extraction. Cleaning it early is far less disruptive. London sites work long hours, and the longer a job is left, the bigger it gets.

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.

Why Brasted Chart businesses choose us

  • CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
  • Every visit written up, with pictures
  • We are fully insured
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London

Your questions about extract fan cleaning in Brasted Chart

How do you handle parking and loading in Brasted Chart?

London parking can be tight, so details of loading bays and permits help. Much of our London work is done overnight, which helps.

Which council inspects kitchens in Brasted Chart?

In Brasted Chart, it’s Sevenoaks council that carries out food hygiene inspections. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.

What is TR19?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.

What about areas you cannot get to?

We never leave them off the paperwork. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.

How much does extract fan cleaning cost?

The cost depends on the size of the system, its condition, access and timing. Ask us for a fixed quote and we will typically reply within one working day.

What should I send you?

Some photos and a quick description of the system plus the address and your hours. We will ask for anything else we need.

Do we lose a day’s trading?

Not typically. Visits are timed for when the area is closed, such as overnight or at a weekend, so the site can carry on as normal.

What makes a kitchen extract fan vibrate?

Uneven grease on the impeller often causes it. We clean the fan and tell you if anything else, like worn bearings, is to blame.

Between visits

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Listen for new noises or vibration from the fan
  • Check the report shows the fan was cleaned
  • Leave a clear route to the fan
  • Do not turn the fan off mid-service

The photo report shows the fan before and after cleaning. It notes what was done and anything that couldn’t be reached, along with the recommended next clean date.

Listen to the fan. Rattles, hums or shaking can be early signs of build-up or wear and early action can save a repair.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.

Part by part

Kitchens with long cooking hours

In a busy kitchen, the fan rarely gets a rest, which means grease and wear add up quickly. Regular cleans help it keep going.

Fan housings and motors

The housing around the impeller catches grease flung off the blades. We clean it along with the blades.

Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. Food hygiene inspections in Brasted Chart are the job of Sevenoaks council’s environmental health team. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
