Soldridge ductwork cleaning
Ductwork cleaning for commercial sites in Soldridge and across Hampshire. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and fully insured.
- Years of grease along the duct floor
- A grease test showing the duct is overdue
- Smells of old cooking grease from the ductwork
When to call us in Soldridge
The further the air travels from the cooking, the cooler it gets. Cooling air drops its grease onto the inside of the duct, so duct runs keep collecting grease long after the canopy.
These are the problems we see most often:
- Grease pooling at the foot of the riser
- A grease test showing the duct is overdue
- Gaps where access panels were never fitted
- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Alton Community Hospital about 4.1 miles north-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
What your quote should include
- Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
- How areas they can’t reach will be recorded
- Whether VAT is included
- Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
Ductwork cleaning in Soldridge, done properly
In doctor’s terms, the ductwork is the system’s arteries: find the blockages, clear them, then check the flow is right. Grease readings before and after give you the evidence, alongside before and after pictures. If you are dealing with a grease test showing the duct is overdue and ductwork that has never been cleaned, we can put it right.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
The paperwork matters as much as the work. You get a written report with photos after each visit, listing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Keep it with your fire safety records so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

The process
Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Soldridge before we set off.
- First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
- A fixed quote follows, based on what we found.
- Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
- We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
- Readings, photos and a recommended next clean date complete the job.
Before we arrive
- Clear the space around the work
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

Common questions in Soldridge
Do you work at weekends in Soldridge?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Soldridge does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Which fire service covers Soldridge?
Fire safety enforcement in Soldridge is handled by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Will I get a report after the ducts are cleaned?
When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19 clean, you get a TR19 certificate and a photo report. The report shows readings, photos and any sections we couldn’t reach.
Who has the legal duty for fire safety?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. That’s generally the employer or the person in control of the premises, and in shared buildings more than one person can have duties. If you’re not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.
What types of premises do you cover?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.
Are you accredited?
BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
No. TR19® itself is not law; it’s a BESA specification. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.
What happens if you can’t reach some of it?
They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, which we can install.
For landlords and multi-site operators
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
Grease, kitchens and Soldridge
Kitchens in Soldridge get their food hygiene inspections from East Hampshire council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. At about 50 miles from central London, Soldridge sits well inside the area we cover. Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included.
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of the Good Shepherd or elsewhere in Soldridge, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. Bentworth Hall, about 2.8 miles north, is one of the historic houses near Soldridge; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions.

What affects the quote in Soldridge
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- What state the system is in
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Parking and loading at the site
- How many systems or sites are involved
Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.
What we need to know
To help us quote quickly, send us:
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
Want a quote for ductwork cleaning? Please give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.
Why it’s worth doing now in Soldridge
There’s no law that names TR19. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and grease in the duct is part of that. It’s simpler to plan the work at Soldridge now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

Keeping the system healthy
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Ask for a grease thickness test if the kitchen gets busier
- Store the certificate with the fire risk assessment
- Flag drips from the duct right away
- Ask us about extra access panels where sections can’t be reached
File the paperwork in the maintenance log. It’s the evidence an insurer or inspector may ask for, and the pictures make the duct’s condition easy to see.
Some signs mean the duct needs attention sooner: grease leaking from duct joints, smells, or a fan that sounds rough. Testing will show whether any section has reached 500 microns.
What ductwork cleaning can’t fix
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- An extract fan that has stopped working
- Parts of the duct with no way in
- A duct that is too small or badly routed for the kitchen (a design issue)
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
