Ductwork cleaning in Old Windsor
Not sure when the ductwork was last cleaned? Tell us about the system when you phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we’ll send you a fixed quote for ductwork cleaning, usually within one working day. Common call-outs are for proof of duct cleaning for the insurer and grease seeping out of the duct seams, on vertical risers, bends and junctions and attenuators.
For a smaller kitchen near Old Windsor, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
A written report with pictures follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

When it’s something else
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- Sections that cannot be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
- A failed fan motor at the end of the duct (a fan repair job)
- Fire dampers that don’t close (they need testing and remedials)
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What else we do in Old Windsor
Common problems we fix in Old Windsor
Risers carry the extract up through the building. Grease clings to the walls and can run down to the base as liquid grease runs down. Panels along the riser make proper cleaning possible.
The symptoms we’re asked about most are:
- A duct nobody has opened in years
- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
- Sections of duct with no access panels
- Fat dripping from the ductwork
Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Frogmore House is about 1.3 miles north-west), access may need planning.
What to look for in a quote
- If they look at the system before pricing
- Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Old Windsor kitchens: local notes
There are about 13 restaurants, cafés and works canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Old Windsor, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Each kitchen that cooks under a canopy sends grease-laden air into a duct, where it cools and settles. The fire and rescue service for Old Windsor is Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Food hygiene inspections in Old Windsor are the job of Windsor and Maidenhead council’s environmental health team. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
A hospital like King Edward VII Hospital, about 1.8 miles north-west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as King's Court First School or anywhere near Old Windsor, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

What affects the cost of ductwork cleaning
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:
- The scale of the work
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- What state the system is in
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.
Helping us quote
Many jobs can be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- The site address and the type of premises
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Call or email with a few details and you’ll normally have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
Keeping the system healthy
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Diarise the next duct clean
- Never cook with a filter missing
- Have the grease measured if cooking hours go up
- Consider fitting panels where the report shows gaps
When the duct is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. It shows when and where the clean was done and by whom.
Have access panels fitted where sections cannot be reached. Grease you can reach is grease that gets removed.
Common questions in Old Windsor
Which council inspects kitchens in Old Windsor?
In Old Windsor, it’s Windsor and Maidenhead council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
Do you work in villages like Old Windsor?
Yes, Old Windsor is part of our area, however small the site. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Can you clean ductwork with no access panels?
We clean everything we can reach and record what we can’t. Extra panels can be installed, and we can do that for you.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. Photos often do the job, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, fully. We also hold CHAS and SafeContractor for clients who vet their contractors.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Some photos and a quick description of the system, with the address and opening hours. If we need more, we’ll ask.
What’s the cleaning interval for extract ductwork?
The minimum depends on how long the kitchen cooks each day: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate and 12-monthly for light use. Measured grease sets the real interval.
What if parts of the system can’t be reached?
We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.
How the visit works
Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. Then we make the system safe and start. The work on site takes a few hours for a short run, longer for long runs and tall risers, and we clear up before we go. A site near Old Windsor typically has room to park, so the questions are about access to the system and your hours.
- We trace the duct and find every way in.
- We take grease readings along the route.
- Out of hours, the area is protected and the access panels opened.
- Thick grease is scraped out, then the runs and risers are degreased.
- We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.
Before we arrive
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in

Related advice
Leave it or put it right?
BESA guidance says grease shouldn’t exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans. Anywhere that reaches 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning. Leaving the duct makes those limits harder to keep to. A site near Old Windsor that has to close at short notice is hard to cover for.
We don’t list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.
