Ductwork cleaning in Lake
We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, with each certificate issued through the BESCA portal. Typical jobs include readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test and an insurer asking for TR19 evidence, across vertical risers, multi-storey ducts and bends and junctions.
Size does not change the work: a kitchen in a place like Lake gets the whole system cleaned, canopy to discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

What the work involves, part by part
Bends and transitions
A bend can hold far more grease than a straight run of the same length. We clean it back by hand and with degreaser, and readings are taken there before and after.
Horizontal duct runs
Flat runs of duct link the canopy to the riser or the outside wall. They collect grease as the air cools and slows, and we clean them section by section through access panels.
What staff can safely do
Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
What ductwork cleaning looks like in Lake
Sea air reaches Lake, which sits within about 1 mile of the coast. Metal on the roof weathers faster close to the coast, and the extract fan and cowl are no exception. The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 51 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 14 takeaways in and around Lake, up to about a mile and a half out. Wherever those kitchens cook under a canopy, the horizontal runs and risers need cleaning as well as the hood. In Lake, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Isle of Wight council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Broadlea Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of The Good Shepherd or anywhere around Lake, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. For kitchens close to Lake station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight.
Lake is about 1 mile south-west of Sandown, in the Isle of Wight. Every kind of commercial site in Lake, ductwork cleaning is something we can help with. We can work out of hours so the site keeps running. Lake is one of 125 towns, villages and districts in the Isle of Wight we cover for ductwork cleaning. We also work in Portsmouth, around 12 miles away.
Ductwork cleaning in PO36 and PO37 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. Streets in the area include Lea Road, New Road and Percy Road, and we cover them all for ductwork cleaning. Lake sits on or near the A3055, so getting to you is simple for ductwork cleaning. We also cover the places around Lake: Sandown (1 mile north-east), Alverstone (1 mile north-west), Queen's Bower (1 mile north-west), Shanklin (1 mile south) and Alverstone Garden Village (1 mile north-west). Within a short drive, we also cover Newport (7 miles north-west), Ryde (5 miles north), Cowes (10 miles north-west), Ventnor (4 miles south-west), East Cowes (9 miles north-west) and Oakfield (5 miles north). Remote and island sites need a little more planning, so tell us where you are when you ask for a quote for ductwork cleaning.

What happens on the day
Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the work takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Lake can usually be finished without a second trip.
- The duct route is surveyed and every access point found.
- We take grease readings along the route.
- Out of hours, the area is protected and the access panels opened.
- Heavy deposits come out by hand, then each section is degreased.
- Panels are closed, readings and pictures repeated, and unreachable sections recorded.
How to prepare
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
Ask for a quote
Quotes are quick. Send a few details and pictures, and we normally reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

What else we do in Lake
Between visits
Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Consider fitting panels where the report shows gaps
- Leave a way through to the access panels
- Tell us if grease leaks from the ductwork
- File each certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
Keep the certificate and report with the fire risk assessment. It’s the evidence an insurer or inspector may ask for, and the pictures make the duct’s condition easy to see.
Some signs mean the duct needs attention sooner: grease leaking from duct joints, smells, or a fan that sounds rough. A grease thickness test can confirm whether a spot clean is needed.
When something else is needed
Not every problem is solved by ductwork cleaning, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It doesn’t solve:
- A worn-out fan that needs replacing
- Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
- Ductwork that’s corroded, split or holed (that needs a ductwork contractor)
If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think.

How we price ductwork cleaning
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- How many systems or sites are involved
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- The scale of the work
- How easy every part is to reach
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Your last certificate, test record or report
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
For landlords and multi-site operators
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.
Your questions about ductwork cleaning in Lake
Can you clean school kitchen extracts in Lake during the holidays?
Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Around Lake, the Food Standards Agency lists about 3 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Which fire service covers Lake?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Lake. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
What does ductwork cleaning cost?
We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. We fix the price before we start.
Can extra access doors be added to the duct?
Yes, we install duct access panels. We place them where they help most, and we’ll recommend where.
How long does ductwork cleaning take?
Allow anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. The survey tells us how long your duct needs.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, with visits on a regular schedule.
When is the ductwork cleaned?
Only while we’re working, and we work around you. Overnight and weekend work is common, so no service is lost.
