About our ductwork cleaning in Iping
In doctor’s terms, the ductwork is the system’s arteries: diagnose where grease has built up, clear it and confirm the result. Readings taken before and after show the difference, alongside before and after photos. If you’re dealing with fat dripping from the ductwork and smells of old cooking grease from the ductwork, we can help.
For a kitchen in or near Iping, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Keeping the system healthy
Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Have the grease measured if cooking hours go up
- Ask us about extra access panels where sections cannot be reached
- Never cook with a filter missing
- Do not block access panels with shelving or stock
You will have a recommended date for the next clean, worked out from the grease we found and how long you cook each day, in line with BESA guidance.
Book the next duct clean before the date passes. A change in cooking hours may change the interval under BESA guidance, and grease thickness testing will show it.
Honest limits
We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
- Leaking duct joints that need repair
- Faulty fire dampers
If you’re not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will give you a straight answer.

FAQs for Iping
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Iping?
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Iping. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Iping?
Kitchens in Iping are inspected by Chichester council’s environmental health officers. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
What’s TR19?
BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes, always. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.
Which accreditations do you hold?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We’ve been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.
Do we have to stop cooking while the ducts are cleaned?
Out of hours, at a time that suits the kitchen. Long ducts can be split across visits, with the kitchen ready to cook each morning.
How is kitchen extract ductwork cleaned?
Each section is cleaned through its own panel. Grease is scraped out first, then degreased, with readings taken before and after.
How we price ductwork cleaning
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- How many systems or sites are involved
- Parking and loading at the site
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- The postcode and the type of business
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any previous report or certificate
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
To get a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. We normally come back within one working day.
Different parts, different methods
Multi-storey and shared buildings
A fire in a duct in a shared building can affect far more than one kitchen, so the responsible person has more reason to keep it clean. The paperwork suits landlords and managing agents.
Vertical risers
Risers often pass through floors and walls, where fire dampers may be fitted. We test those as a separate job.

How it works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes a few hours for a short run, longer for long runs and tall risers. Somewhere like Iping, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- We map the duct route and check where the access panels are.
- Grease readings are taken at set points along the duct.
- Access panels are opened and heavy deposits scraped out by hand.
- The duct is degreased with the method that suits the grease, from degreasers to hot water or steam.
- Post-clean readings and photos go into the report, with any unreachable section listed.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the system
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
How to get a quote
Here’s what helps us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

What happens if it’s left?
TR19® isn’t law, but the duty to manage fire risk is. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, including the grease inside the extract ductwork. It’s simpler to plan the work at Iping now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
Why us?
- Fixed quotes from a survey or pictures
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- Trading since 2009
- Survey first, then a fixed quote
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
