How we handle grease trap cleaning in Iping
A clean trap means flowing drains and no foul smells. We empty the built-up grease and food solids, clean the inside and the baffles, and check the trap is working properly. We are often asked to deal with drains clogged with fat and a bad smell from the sinks or drains, on restaurants and takeaways, under-sink grease traps and inline grease traps.
In rural areas, a kitchen may drain to a private system rather than a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

How the job changes from site to site
Grease interceptors
Interceptors take longer to clean and we allow for that.
Under-sink grease traps
An under-sink trap is out of sight. When they fill, the sink slows and starts to smell.
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- Book trap cleans at a set interval
- Keep waste oil out of the drains
- Hot water only moves grease further down
- Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
We take the grease and solids away. There’s no greasy waste left on site when we are done.
An overfull trap lets grease pass. Regular emptying keeps it working and avoids a blockage.

What else we do in Iping
Why deal with it now?
Smells from a neglected trap are hard to ignore. Rotting food and grease give off foul odours and the smell carries. Cleaning it removes the cause. In a small place like Iping, a system that fails can take a site out of use.
We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

Common problems we fix in Iping
Waste cooking oil poured down the sink fills a grease trap far faster than washing-up. Even small amounts add up.
These are the problems we see most often:
- A grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time
- Grease setting in the kitchen pipework
- An interceptor full of grease and solids
- A slow-draining kitchen sink
If you run a care home or healthcare kitchen near Iping (the nearest hospital is Midhurst Community Hospital, about 2.2 miles east), a grease trap on a set schedule avoids a blocked drain mid-service.

Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Iping
Can the work in Iping be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. That way a site in Iping does not have to lose a day’s trading. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Do you work in villages like Iping?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.
Do you provide a certificate or report?
Yes, on every job. The report is dated and includes photos, and TR19® Grease cleans come with a certificate through the BESCA VHE portal. File it with your fire safety records.
Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. It’s normally the employer, or whoever controls the building, and in shared buildings more than one person can have duties. If you are not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.
What types of premises do you cover?
All kinds of commercial and public premises: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.
Do we lose a day’s trading?
Not typically. Out-of-hours visits keep the disruption down. Bigger sites can be done in stages so parts stay in use.
What about areas you cannot get to?
Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.
How the visit works
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before any work starts, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Iping knowing what to expect.
- A visit is booked around your service.
- The trap is opened up and checked.
- We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
- We clean the baffles, inlet and outlet.
- We close it up, check it drains and suggest when it needs cleaning again.
Before we arrive
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
Getting a quote

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
What a clean won’t put right
We will not sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- Blockages further down the drainage network
- A leaking sink waste or trap connection
- A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will tell you honestly.

What grease trap cleaning looks like in Iping

Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day. Iping, about 46 miles from central London, is within our usual area. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site.
If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Cowdray House is about 2.5 miles east), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings. Hall kitchens near Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Iping may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean.
