Tower Hamlets canopy cleaning
Canopy cleaning across Tower Hamlets and nearby, booked around your opening hours and finished with a written report and pictures.

- A canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection
How we handle canopy cleaning in Tower Hamlets
The canopy is where the extract system breathes in. If it’s coated in grease, everything downstream gets more of it. We start the check-up there, and the cure is a thorough clean of the hood, the plenum and the filter housing. Typical jobs include grease dripping from the canopy edge and a greasy hood noticed by an inspector, across wall canopies, grease gutters and plenum chambers.
For a smaller kitchen near Tower Hamlets, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. That’s why every job is written up in a report with pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

Fixed quotes for canopy cleaning in Tower Hamlets
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- How easy every part is to reach
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Your last certificate, test record or report

Honest limits
Canopy cleaning can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before any work starts. It won’t put right:
- A canopy undersized for the equipment
- A dirty extract fan further along the system
- Filters that no longer seal in the housing
If you are not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

How the visit works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes a few hours for most canopies. Getting to the system matters more than parking in a place like Tower Hamlets, so let us know how to reach it.
- Diagnosis first: we look behind the filters as well as at the hood.
- Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
- Thick grease is scraped away before the canopy is degreased.
- We finish the plenum, troughs and canopy and check them over.
- The canopy is signed off with before and after photos and a next clean date.
Before we arrive
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
Ask for a quote
We do not publish a price list, because every site is different. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To start, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

Kitchen extracts in Tower Hamlets
At about 1 mile from the coast, Tower Hamlets is close enough for sea air to matter. Metal on the roof weathers faster close to the coast, and the extract fan and cowl are no exception. Food Standards Agency records list about 72 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 44 takeaways in and around Tower Hamlets, up to about a mile and a half out. Every kitchen among them that cooks under a canopy has a hood, plenum and filters collecting grease. Fire safety in Tower Hamlets falls to Kent Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.
For schools such as Priory Fields School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. A kitchen near Dover Priory station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter and St Paul, or anywhere in Tower Hamlets, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Tower Hamlets questions
Which environmental health team covers Tower Hamlets?
In Tower Hamlets, it’s Dover council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Tower Hamlets?
That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
What is TR19?
BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.
What do you do with what you remove?
It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it doesn’t spread.
Do you provide photos of the cleaned canopy?
Photos of the canopy and plenum before and after. It also gives a recommended date for the next clean.
How much notice should we give?
The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. Quotes usually come back within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
What happens if you can’t reach some of it?
Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.
Part by part
School and staff canteen kitchens
Canteens and school kitchens tend to run to a timetable, so the canopy can be cleaned when the kitchen is closed. We often clean them in holidays or at weekends.
Pub and hotel kitchens
In pubs and hotels, the kitchen may be busy for much of the day. That is a lot of grease on the canopy, and canopy cleans between full cleans can help.
What happens if it’s left?
Grease dripping from the hood can fall onto food, pans and worktops. That is a hygiene problem as well as a fire one, and EHOs look at the cleanliness of the premises and equipment. A planned visit to Tower Hamlets fits your hours; an emergency doesn’t.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
