Canopy Cleaning in Sevenscore
Looking for canopy cleaning in Sevenscore? We survey first, give you a fixed quote and work around your opening hours, finishing with a written report and photos.
- Greasy streaks across the canopy
- Smoke hanging around the canopy during service
- Condensation and grease dripping together
How we handle canopy cleaning in Sevenscore
A greasy canopy tells an inspector a lot before they’ve opened anything. Under the surface, the plenum behind the filters is normally in a worse state. Canopy cleaning deals with both, so the hood looks right and works properly. Common call-outs are for a greasy hood noticed by an inspector and drips from the canopy onto the range, on plenum chambers, baffle filters and island canopies.
For a kitchen in or near Sevenscore, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

What we’re called out for in Sevenscore
Steam and condensation make canopy grease harder to deal with. Water vapour condenses on the cooler canopy surfaces and drips, carrying grease with it. The result is sticky streaks and drips onto the range.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Grease filters blocking between washes
- Greasy streaks across the canopy
- Smoke hanging around the canopy during service
- Fat running down the front of the hood
For kitchens close to Thanet Parkway station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight.
What your quote should include
- What insurance they carry
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
Common questions in Sevenscore
Which environmental health team covers Sevenscore?
That’s Thanet council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Sevenscore. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.
Can you work in Sevenscore outside opening hours?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in Sevenscore can fit around your hours. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Can I just have the canopy cleaned instead of the whole system?
A canopy-only clean is possible, but it is not a full TR19 clean. For TR19, the whole system needs cleaning, at intervals set by BESA guidance.
Is the inside of the hood cleaned?
We clean the canopy inside and out, including the seams, troughs and gutters. With the filters out, the plenum and housing are cleaned as well.
Are you accredited?
BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’ve been trading since 2009 and we’re fully insured.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Every site has its own report.
What should I send you?
The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, along with a few photos and any previous report.
Is Sevenscore in your area?
Yes. We work in Sevenscore and across Kent, as part of our work across South East England and London. To book, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Part by part
Island canopies
With filters on more than one side, an island canopy has more plenum to clean. Both sides are taken apart and cleaned.
Pub and hotel kitchens
A hotel or pub kitchen can rarely close for long. We clean the canopy overnight or between services so the kitchen keeps trading.
Sevenscore kitchens: local notes
Sea air reaches Sevenscore, which sits within about 2 miles of the coast. Salt air speeds up corrosion of roof-level fans, discharge cowls and their fixings. The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 5 bars, pubs and nightclubs in Sevenscore and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. It’s Thanet council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Sevenscore. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Mary or elsewhere in Sevenscore, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Sevenscore (Quex Park is about 2.8 miles north-west), fitting access panels needs care.

Nearby you will also find Westwood Cross (3 miles north-east) and Ramsgate General Hospital (2.8 miles east). For a walk, there’s Sandwich and Pegwell Bay.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Sevenscore
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.
How we price canopy cleaning
The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- The condition we find in the survey
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.
Helping us quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to have:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
Aftercare tips
Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:
- Clean the baffle filters often
- Flag any change in how the canopy behaves
- Wipe the canopy down at close every day
- Check filters are not leaving gaps
Where the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Where only the canopy is done, the report says so clearly.
Clean filters are the canopy’s first defence. Keep them on a regular cleaning or exchange cycle, and never cook with one missing. Less grease gets into the plenum as a result.
When it’s something else
We will not sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:
- A light fitting that doesn’t work
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
- Bent or broken filters
If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think before booking.
Parts of the system we cover
- Plenum chambers
- Baffle filters
- Grease gutters
- Island canopies
- Canopy light fittings
- Wall canopies
The process
Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. A few pictures of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Sevenscore.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
- We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
- Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
Before we arrive
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Find the previous report, if there is one
