Reigate canopy cleaning
Need canopy cleaning in Reigate? We diagnose first, fix the price and book the work around your hours, then sign off with a report and pictures.
- Smoke hanging around the canopy during service
- Grease dripping from the canopy edge
- Heavy deposits behind the grease filters
Canopy cleaning in Reigate, done properly
Every TR19® Grease clean includes the canopy, but some sites need the canopy done between full cleans. In that case, the report makes clear what was and wasn’t cleaned, so your records stay accurate. If you are dealing with a canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection and condensation running down the canopy, we can put it right.
In a town like Reigate, most of the kitchen extracts we’re asked about belong to restaurants, cafés, pubs, takeaways and school or care home kitchens. Each has a canopy, filters, ductwork and a fan to keep clear of grease.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What happens on the day
There’s very little for your team to do on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Photos taken on a phone are usually enough for us to plan a job in Reigate and give a fixed quote.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
- With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
- The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Move anything stored near the system
Get a fixed quote
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
Advice
What canopy cleaning cannot fix
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- A hood that doesn’t cover the cooking line
- Poor airflow from a fan that needs repair
- Grease in the duct runs and risers behind the canopy
If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What affects the quote in Reigate
There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:
- The condition of the system
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- A single visit or a regular plan
- How many systems or sites are involved
What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Asking for a quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- A few general shots of the system
- Any previous report or certificate
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with pictures.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
Grease, kitchens and Reigate
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 28 bars, pubs and nightclubs across Reigate and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. Reigate sits within the area of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Environmental health officers from Reigate and Banstead council inspect food businesses in Reigate. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like East Surrey Hospital about 2 miles south-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. For schools such as Reigate Priory Community Junior School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Where a hall near Church of St Mary Magdalene, or anywhere in Reigate, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.

Postcode districts we cover here for canopy cleaning: RH2 and RH1. Whether your site is on High Street, London Road and Church Road or anywhere close by, our technicians can take on the work. Reigate is on the A25 and A217, so it’s easy for us to get to for out-of-hours visits. If your site is just outside Reigate, we cover South Park (1 mile south), Margery (2 miles north), Mogador (2 miles north-west), Sidlow (2 miles south) and Irons Bottom (2 miles south). Larger places within reach include Epsom (7 miles north-west), Horley (4 miles south), Ewell (8 miles north), Walton-on-Thames (14 miles north-west), Caterham (6 miles north-east) and Dorking (6 miles west). Reigate is one of the larger places we cover in Surrey for canopy cleaning.

Island canopies
With filters on more than one side, an island canopy has more plenum to clean. We work round the canopy, cleaning each filter bank and plenum.
Pub and hotel kitchens
Pub and hotel kitchens can cook from breakfast to late evening. Long hours mean the canopy collects grease fast, and canopy cleans between full cleans can help.
Common questions in Reigate
Do you work overnight in Reigate?
Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. Your customers, staff or residents in Reigate needn’t be disturbed. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Can a school canteen extract in Reigate be done out of term time?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. There are about 15 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Reigate. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Do you clean canopies in all kinds of kitchens?
Single hoods, long wall canopies and island canopies alike. The survey tells us how best to clean yours, from pictures or a visit.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
They’re marked on the report. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, and we can fit those.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.
How do you protect the area?
By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.
Who has the legal duty for fire safety?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. It’s normally the employer, or whoever controls the building, and where several people have control, each can have duties. If you’re not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Why deal with it now?
If the canopy waits for the next full clean, grease keeps adding up. Some kitchens need the canopy cleaning more often than the whole system, and readings or a look behind the filters will show it. Before an inspection or an insurer’s visit in Reigate, it helps to have up-to-date records.
A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before we start.
