Peters Village canopy cleaning
Canopy cleaning for Peters Village, from a team that has been trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- A filter housing caked in grease
- A canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection
- A sticky, discoloured canopy
How we handle canopy cleaning in Peters Village
The canopy is where the extract system breathes in. If it’s coated in grease, everything downstream gets more of it. We start the check-up there, and the cure is a thorough clean of the hood, the plenum and the filter housing. We are often asked to deal with fat running down the front of the hood and a hood coated in old grease, across canopy light fittings, baffle filters and island canopies.
Size doesn’t change the work: a kitchen in a place like Peters Village gets the whole system cleaned, canopy to discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

What canopy cleaning looks like in Peters Village
Look up Peters Village on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 11 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 10 takeaways in and around Peters Village, up to about a mile and a half out. Every kitchen among them that cooks under a canopy has a hood, plenum and filters collecting grease. Environmental health officers from Tonbridge and Malling council inspect food businesses in Peters Village. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after. Peters Village sits within the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Mary's Church or elsewhere in Peters Village, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Halling Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

How we price canopy cleaning
You will get a fixed price before we start. It takes into account:
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The size of the system
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and the price is agreed before we start.
Helping us quote
A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- Your last certificate, test record or report
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
What we’re called out for in Peters Village
A canopy in Peters Village picks up grease at much the same rate as one anywhere else with the same cooking: it comes down to how long the kitchen cooks and what’s on the menu. High-heat cooking coats it fastest.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Grease dripping from the canopy edge
- Wet, greasy drips from the hood
- Grease channels that no longer drain
- A greasy hood noticed by an inspector
A hospital like St. Catherine's Hospital, about 3.5 miles north-east, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.
Comparing quotes
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- How areas they cannot reach will be recorded
- What hours they’ll be on site
- Whether a written report and photos are included

When it’s something else
Canopy cleaning cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before any work starts. It will not put right:
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
- A dirty extract fan further along the system
- Electrical faults in the canopy
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly.
Where we work
- Canopy light fittings
- Baffle filters
- Grease gutters
- Island canopies
- Wall canopies
- Plenum chambers
The process
Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Peters Village can normally be finished without a second trip.
- We start by checking the canopy and what’s behind its filters.
- Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
- Heavy deposits come off by hand, then the surfaces are degreased.
- We finish the plenum, troughs and canopy and check them over.
- You get pictures of the result and a recommended date for the next clean.
Getting ready for the visit
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Tell us where we can park and unload

Related advice
Keeping the system healthy
Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:
- Do not scrape the canopy with metal tools
- Refit filters the right way round and fully seated
- Keep filters on a set cleaning routine
- Check all filters are fitted before service
A full system clean comes with a TR19 certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If the job covers only the canopy, the paperwork reflects that.
A daily wipe of the hood keeps fresh grease from baking on. It won’t replace a professional clean, but it slows the build-up you can see.
Your questions about canopy cleaning in Peters Village
Can you clean school kitchen extracts in Peters Village during the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. The FSA’s register shows about 9 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Peters Village. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.
Can you get to a site in Peters Village?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Peters Village included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Who has the legal duty for fire safety?
The Fire Safety Order 2005 calls them the responsible person: often the employer, owner or occupier. In shared or managed buildings, a landlord, facilities manager or managing agent can share the duty.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. Then call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We carry full insurance, and we have been trading since 2009.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
What types of premises do you cover?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.
Why is my canopy dripping grease?
Most drips come from overflowing troughs, damaged filters or a plenum thick with grease. We clean all three and point out anything that is causing it.
What the work involves, part by part
Island canopies
An island canopy is open on all sides, so every face can collect grease. Each face is cleaned inside and out.
Wall canopies
A long wall canopy may hold several sections of filters. We work along the canopy section by section, with pictures for each.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.
