Marston canopy cleaning
Deep cleaning of kitchen canopies, hoods, plenums and grease filters, inside and out in Marston, surveyed first and signed off with a written report and photos. Call for a fixed quote.
- A hood coated in old grease
- An EHO comment about the canopy
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
What happens if it’s left?
Baked-on grease gets harder to shift the longer it stays. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, so the longer it’s left, the longer the clean takes. It’s simpler to plan the work at Marston now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

Canopy cleaning in Marston, done properly
Canopy cleaning is part of every full TR19® Grease clean, but a canopy can also need cleaning on its own, between full system cleans. In that case, the report makes clear what was and wasn’t cleaned, so your records stay accurate. If you are dealing with filters that never seem to stay clean and condensation and grease dripping together, we can put it right, from baffle filters, canopy light fittings and grease gutters onwards.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.
The paperwork matters as much as the work. Each visit is written up with pictures, listing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Keep it with your fire safety records so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

Your questions about canopy cleaning in Marston
Can a school canteen extract in Marston be done out of term time?
Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. With about 30 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Marston, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your term dates and we will plan around them.
Do you cover smaller places like Marston?
Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Marston is covered. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Are you accredited?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We are fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
What if parts of the system cannot be reached?
We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.
Will we have to shut during the visit?
Normally not. Booking the work out of hours means the site can carry on as normal. Bigger sites can be done in stages to keep things running.
How long will it take to clean the canopy?
One lightly soiled hood does not take long, but large or heavily soiled canopies take longer. We will tell you what to expect.
How far ahead should we book?
The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We usually quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
What does canopy cleaning cost?
It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. For a quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the site type, opening hours and a few pictures.
How the visit works
The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up, and we clear up before we go. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Marston.
- We look at the canopy first, from photos or on a visit.
- The range is turned off and allowed to cool before we cover it.
- We remove the grease filters and clean the plenum and filter housing.
- Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
- Filters go back, the area is cleaned down and pictures are taken.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

Advice
Fixed quotes for canopy cleaning in Marston
Your quote is based on your site. We consider:
- The scale of the work
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The times the site is available
Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered and we’ll price it together.
Helping us quote
You don’t need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The site address and the type of premises
We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To start, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
How the job changes from site to site
School and staff canteen kitchens
Canteen staff see the canopy, not the duct behind it. The canopy and plenum are both cleaned, so what’s out of sight is dealt with too.
Pub and hotel kitchens
Few pubs and hotels can shut the kitchen for a day. We clean the canopy overnight or between services so the kitchen keeps trading.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and send you a fixed quote.
What canopy cleaning looks like in Marston
Food Standards Agency data counts about 66 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 11 sandwich bars and takeaways across Marston and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Any of those kitchens with a canopy has a hood that needs cleaning inside and out. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Marston. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Environmental health officers from Oxford City council inspect food businesses in Marston. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Holywell Manor is about 1.5 miles south), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as St Nicholas Primary School or anywhere near Marston, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St Nicholas or elsewhere in Marston, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

Between visits
Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Keep grease cups and drawers emptied
- Check all filters are fitted before service
- Don’t scrape the canopy with metal tools
- Report new drips or smells from the canopy
The report gives a recommended next clean date. It reflects how long the kitchen cooks and how much grease we removed, in line with BESA guidance.
Do not let canopy gutters fill to the brim. Overflowing troughs are the usual cause of drips onto the range, so make emptying them part of the closing routine.
When something else is needed
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Electrical faults in the canopy
- Bent or broken filters
- A canopy undersized for the equipment
If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll say what we think before you book.
