Langstone canopy cleaning
Canopy and hood cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Langstone. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- Smoke hanging around the canopy during service
- A canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection
- Grease channels that no longer drain
Canopy cleaning in Langstone
Canopy cleaning is part of every full TR19® Grease clean, but some sites need the canopy done between full cleans. Where that is the case, we will be clear that the ducts and fan are not included, so your records stay accurate. Typical jobs include drips from the canopy onto the range and smoke hanging around the canopy during service, on baffle filters, grease gutters and canopy light fittings.
Somewhere as small as Langstone, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Canopy cleaning around Langstone
Langstone is within about 1 mile of the coast. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. Look up Langstone on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 40 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 22 sandwich bars and takeaways in Langstone and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Where they cook under a hood, the plenum behind the filters is where grease hides. Langstone sits within the area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.
A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Saint Nicholas' Chapel or elsewhere in Langstone, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Bosmere Junior School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Warblington Castle, about 0.8 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses near Langstone; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions.
Langstone is about 2 miles south of Havant, in Hampshire. We provide canopy cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Langstone and the rest of Hampshire. We cover 683 places across Hampshire, large and small.

How we price canopy cleaning
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:
- How big the system is
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- How easy every part is to reach
- The condition we find in the survey
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before we start.
What to send for a quote
A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- The site address and the type of premises
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
Need a price for canopy cleaning? Please ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with a few details about the site. We’ll explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before anything is booked.
What canopy cleaning cannot fix
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what canopy cleaning won’t do:
- A fan that can’t pull enough air because it’s worn out
- A canopy undersized for the equipment
- Bent or broken filters
Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.

FAQs for Langstone
Is Langstone within the area you cover?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Langstone included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Langstone?
Kitchens in Langstone are inspected by Havant council’s environmental health officers. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.
What accreditations do you have?
We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
What types of premises do you cover?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.
What’s TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.
How much does canopy cleaning cost?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. We fix the price before work begins.
How much of the canopy do you clean?
We clean the canopy inside and out, along with its seams and grease channels. The plenum and filter housing behind the filters are cleaned too.
Is TR19 cleaning required by law?
No, not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The legal duty sits in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Langstone
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
How the job changes from site to site
Plenums and filter housings
Behind neglected filters, the plenum can be heavily coated. Heavy deposits are scraped out by hand before degreasing.
Island canopies
Island canopies often have filters on two sides. Both sides are taken apart and cleaned.
Why deal with it now?
In Langstone, as elsewhere, a greasy canopy is one of the first things an inspector sees. A clean hood is a sign the kitchen is cared for and keeping it that way is easier than catching up. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Langstone is calmer for everyone.
Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.
What you get with us
- In business since 2009
- Fully insured
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- A fixed price before any work starts
What happens on the day
Every visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, make the system safe, carry out the canopy cleaning, clear away and hand over the paperwork. The visit itself takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Langstone before we set off.
- We look at the canopy first, from pictures or on a visit.
- Cooking equipment is left to cool and the area under the canopy protected.
- We remove the grease filters and clean the plenum and filter housing.
- Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
- Clean filters are refitted and before and after pictures go into your report.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear the space around the work
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
Get a fixed quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
