Canopy and hood cleaning in North Hayling, Hampshire
Our technicians work in North Hayling on deep cleaning of kitchen canopies, hoods, plenums and grease filters, inside and out. Fixed quotes, work around your opening hours and photo reports as standard.
- Heavy deposits behind the grease filters
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
- Grease channels that no longer drain
How we price canopy cleaning
Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- Any permits to work or inductions
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- What state the system is in
No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.
What we need to know
To help us quote quickly, send us:
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Any previous report or certificate
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, photos of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Then call 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Canopy cleaning in North Hayling
Grease troughs, seams and the inside edge of the canopy are the spots a daily wipe misses. Thick deposits are scraped off by hand, then the surfaces degreased to suit what’s there, using hot water or steam where it helps. If you have a canopy that no longer draws the smoke away and condensation running down the canopy, we can put it right, from plenum chambers, island canopies and canopy light fittings onwards.
Somewhere as small as North Hayling, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

How the job changes from site to site
Wall canopies
A long wall canopy may hold several sections of filters. We work along the canopy section by section, with pictures for each.
Plenums and filter housings
Filter housings hold the filters in place, and their channels fill with grease. Clean housings let the filters seat properly and leave no gaps.
Questions from North Hayling
Do you work in villages like North Hayling?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Does being near the coast affect canopy cleaning in North Hayling?
It can. North Hayling is within about 1 mile of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion. We look at fans, cowls and fixings for rust as well as grease.
Do you clean inside the canopy as well as outside?
We clean the canopy inside and out, including the seams, troughs and gutters. The plenum and filter housing behind the filters are cleaned too.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Commercial premises of every kind: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.
What happens to the waste?
We take it away at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained to keep the area clean.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7, for problems that can’t wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
What should I send you?
Only a few details: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. After that, simply phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.
Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
How the visit works
There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. The middle part takes longest, which takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in North Hayling knowing what to expect.
- We start by checking the canopy and what’s behind its filters.
- We protect everything below once it has cooled.
- Thick grease is scraped away before the canopy is degreased.
- Plenum, housing, troughs and canopy are all cleaned and checked.
- The canopy is signed off with before and after photos and a next clean date.
How to prepare
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
How to get a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.
Related advice
What a clean won’t put right
Canopy cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It does not solve:
- Faulty canopy lights or wiring (a job for an electrician)
- A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that is a design question)
- A dirty extract fan further along the system
If you’re not sure, just call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Canopy cleaning around North Hayling
At about 1 mile from the coast, North Hayling is close enough for sea air to matter. Salt in the air is hard on rooftop fans, discharge cowls and fixings, so we check them for corrosion as well as grease. Food Standards Agency records list about 8 restaurants, cafés and works canteens within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of North Hayling. Where they cook under a hood, the plenum behind the filters is where grease hides. Environmental health officers from Havant council inspect food businesses in North Hayling. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter, or anywhere in North Hayling, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Havant War Memorial Hospital about 2.4 miles north-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
North Hayling is about 3 miles south of Havant, in Hampshire. From the centre of North Hayling to the outskirts, we cover canopy cleaning for every kind of premises, from a single unit to a large public building. Our area takes in 683 places across Hampshire, large and small.
All of PO11 is within our area for canopy cleaning, from the main roads to the quietest streets. Whether your site is on Church Lane, St Peter's Road and St Peter's Avenue or a nearby road, we can help. We also cover Northney (1 mile north), Tye (1 mile south), Stoke (1 mile west), Warblington (1 mile north) and Langstone (1 mile north-west). Further out, we also cover Gosport (8 miles west), Havant (3 miles north), Fareham (10 miles west), Horndean (6 miles north), Waterlooville (5 miles north-west) and Petersfield (13 miles north).
Local landmarks in North Hayling
We work in commercial kitchens and buildings around Eames Farm, among other places. North Hayling’s nearest station is Warblington station, about 2.1 miles north. A little further out are Havant War Memorial Hospital (2.4 miles north-west) and Warblington Castle (1.5 miles north). Not far away are Hayling Billy.
Common problems we fix in North Hayling
Because the plenum sits behind the filters, it’s easy to forget. Daily cleaning reaches the canopy face but rarely gets further, so the plenum often carries months of grease.
The symptoms we are asked about most include:
- Condensation running down the canopy
- A hood coated in old grease
- Poor capture at the hood
- Canopy gutters full of old fat
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Warblington Castle is about 1.5 miles north), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether the quote shows VAT
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- When the next visit should be, and why
- If they look at the system before pricing
Leave it or put it right?
For a kitchen in North Hayling, a canopy that looks greasy can colour a whole inspection. A clean hood is a sign the kitchen is cared for and keeping it that way is easier than catching up. In a small place like North Hayling, a system that fails can take a site out of use.
A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before work begins.
