Hollingrove canopy cleaning
Canopy cleaning for Hollingrove and the surrounding area: diagnosis first, then a fixed quote, the work and a report with photos. Ask us for a fixed quote.
- A hood coated in old grease
- A filter housing caked in grease
- An EHO comment about the canopy
What affects the quote in Hollingrove
There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:
- Any permits to work or inductions
- The times the site is available
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- The condition we find in the survey
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before any work starts.
Helping us quote
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Any previous report or certificate
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll normally have a quote within one working day.
Canopy cleaning in Hollingrove, done properly
Dripping edges and a sticky hood are the first things a visitor notices. Under the surface, the plenum behind the filters is typically in a worse state. Canopy cleaning deals with both, so the hood looks right and works properly. The work covers wall canopies, island canopies and baffle filters, and common reasons people get in touch are filters that clog soon after cleaning and canopy gutters full of old fat.
Somewhere as small as Hollingrove, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with photos of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Honest limits
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work cannot put right:
- Filters that no longer seal in the housing
- A canopy undersized for the equipment
- A light fitting that does not work
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

What happens if it’s left?
Getting the canopy cleaned in Hollingrove now saves a bigger job later. It takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits, done while the kitchen is closed. Left alone, grease keeps moving into the plenum and duct. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re unsure, ring 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Keeping the system healthy
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Don’t scrape the canopy with metal tools
- Never run the range with a filter out
- Flag any change in how the canopy behaves
- Clean the baffle filters often
The report gives a recommended next clean date. It reflects how long the kitchen cooks and how much grease we removed, in line with BESA guidance.
Tell us if the canopy starts dripping or the filters clog sooner than usual. It can mean the cooking has changed or the interval is too long, which a grease thickness test can confirm.
Different parts, different methods
Grease troughs and gutters
A blocked or full trough is the usual cause of grease dripping from the canopy. We clean it out so the grease has somewhere to go.
Pub and hotel kitchens
Few pubs and hotels can shut the kitchen for a day. We clean the canopy overnight or between services so the kitchen keeps trading.
What staff can safely do
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Kitchen extracts in Hollingrove
Fire safety in Hollingrove falls to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. At about 43 miles from central London, Hollingrove sits well inside the area we cover. Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included.
Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Bateman's is about 2.2 miles north-west), access may need planning. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near The Parish Church of St Thomas A Becket, or anywhere in Hollingrove, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Ticehurst House Hospital is the nearest hospital to Hollingrove, about 6 miles north.

Common questions in Hollingrove
Which environmental health team covers Hollingrove?
Food hygiene inspections in Hollingrove are carried out by Rother council. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
Is Hollingrove within the area you cover?
Yes. Hollingrove is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
Commercial premises of every kind: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.
Is the inside of the hood cleaned?
The whole canopy, inside and out. The plenum behind the filters is included because that’s often the dirtiest part.
What happens to the waste?
We take it away when we go. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Do we need to close while you work?
Not normally. We need the work area to ourselves while we are on site, so the visit goes in a quiet slot.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
No, not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
Does a canopy clean meet TR19?
You can have the canopy cleaned on its own, but it will not cover the ductwork or fan. TR19 Grease covers everything the grease travels through, at intervals set by BESA guidance.
What happens on the day
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. In a small place like Hollingrove, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.
- The canopy is checked from photos or on a visit.
- Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
- With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
- Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
Preparing for the visit
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Clear loose items from the work area
