Canopy cleaning in Heaverham
We’ve been cleaning kitchen canopies since we started trading in 2009. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. If you have grease dripping from the canopy edge and smoke hanging around the canopy during service, we can help.
Work in a small place like Heaverham starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. That’s why every job is written up in a report with photos, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What canopy cleaning looks like in Heaverham
Heaverham, about 20 miles from central London, is within our usual area. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible. The fire and rescue service for Heaverham is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Term dates shape school work: for a school like Kemsing Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Mary, or anywhere in Heaverham, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Heaverham is about 3 miles north-east of Sevenoaks, in Kent. Anywhere in TN15, we can take on canopy cleaning. Our Kent coverage runs to 922 places, and Heaverham is one of them. For sites nearby, see our Maidstone page (12 miles or so).

Questions from Heaverham
Do you cover smaller places like Heaverham?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Heaverham?
That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. TR19® is not law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.
Is TR19 cleaning required by law?
No. The law sets the duty, and TR19® is the recognised benchmark for meeting it. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person has to manage fire risk, and many insurers can refuse or reduce a claim without proof of cleaning.
What do you do to protect the area?
With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we will advise on what to do next.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.
Is the inside of the hood cleaned?
Everything from the outer face to the plenum behind the filters. Troughs, gutters and filter housings are cleaned too.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, to suit the system and how it’s used.
What happens if it’s left?
Baked-on grease gets harder to shift the longer it stays. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, so the longer it’s left, the longer the clean takes. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What a clean will not put right
We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:

What we do, step by step
Everything the job needs comes with us, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. The visit takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. A few pictures of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Heaverham.
- The canopy is checked from pictures or on a visit.
- Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
- We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
- The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
Before we arrive
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
- Clear the space around the work
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
Get a fixed quote
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Advice
Keeping the system healthy
Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:
- Flag any change in how the canopy behaves
- Empty the grease troughs before they fill
- Keep the fan on through service
- Check all filters are fitted before service
Where the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Where only the canopy is done, the report says so clearly.
Keep the fan running throughout service and for a short while after. Air that keeps moving carries less grease onto the canopy.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
Different parts, different methods
Grease troughs and gutters
Drips from the canopy edge often start in a full gutter. Cleaning it clears the drip.
Wall canopies
The back of a wall canopy is hard to reach and easy to miss. With the filters out we can get to it and degrease it properly.
What we are called out for in Heaverham
Filters that are missing, damaged or badly seated leave gaps. The plenum and housing behind them then take far more grease than they should, which shows up as heavy deposits when the filters come out.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Poor capture at the hood
- Wet, greasy drips from the hood
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
- Grease filters blocking between washes
If you cook for passing trade around Kemsing station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer.
